A gay American student just walked into our office. He was looking for one of the secretaries but she's not in her room. So he said he was going to grab a soda before trying her room again.
I think it's cute when Americans end their sentences with a lilt. It sounds as if all their sentences become questions. I'm also aware that not all Americans do this - which is a shame. There's a technical term to this, which escapes me now?
I'm going to try saying soda more often, instead of the drabby "fizzy drink".
