Legal in Canada

Gay civil union legalized in Canada!

Kevin and I have finally a reason to return to Kanuck Land. This would mean making the biggest commitment of our lives. Just the thought of having a "gay marriage" freaks me out; one of the plusses of being gay is that you don't have to go through that.

If Kevin and I ever did get hitched, we'd probably do a very subdued civil ceremony (just like my parents.) Neither one of us like pomp and circumstances, much less buquets and best-men speeches. In a way, we are almost married already - we've been together for nearly 7 years and I'm living with his two sisters.

Somedays we talk about moving back to Canada, other days we talk about moving to France. We are trying to convince our friend Natalia to move here from Canada, which spells another year at least in London. I'm fine with all of these plans.

The fact that Kevin and I can legitimize our relationship in Canada is a relief: if we ever find ourselves unhappy in Europe, we have somewhere to go.
