Pulling me Through that Open Door

It's Kevin's birthday on sunday and I still haven't bought him a gift. I was thinking of getting him pyjamas (he wore huge holes through the last one and had to throw it away), a nice book and, perhaps, Brazil on DVD (Terry Gilliam is his favourite director.)

It's close to leaving time and once again i've done no work. I've been reading icymorning's novel, thinking to myself:

"This will be published one day... and I can tell the world I was one of the first to read it!"

There's this scene in the first chapter where the narrator sees a black girl sing from an apartment window, in New York. It sent shivers down my spine. She has also inspired me to continue working on my own novel. I had set it originally in Montreal, but I've now decided to bring it all to London - hopefully the story will get closer to me and open new venues to be explored.
