The Gaze beneath the Haunted Trees

If John Lennon, The Mammas and the Papas and The Beach Boys met, on a cloudy autumn day, in a small sleepy town in America, they might sit together and play some music. Some of them would be wearing black turtle necks, or a beret. Coffee would be handed around, and John Lennon would laugh at the crows perching on a nearby telephone poll.

The music they would make? It would sound like The Clientele.
