Days 39 - Trees

There's a service provided to each town in Brasil, where tree saplings are available for free for anyone interested. Tree saplings are always native trees from that particular region.

We have planted over 10 trees in the past few weeks. Two araucarias – an ancient species that will grow to be tall and beautiful in about 15 years; a couple of fruit trees (cereja do sul and uvaias); and some ipês (trees known for blooming beautiful, colourful flowers at certain times of the year.) Also some palm trees around our swimming pool.

These saplings are grateful for the daily summer rain.

Day 40 - Numbers

I got two numbers right on my lottery ticket. Nobody got all six numbers right.

I got it right that it would rain on this Sunday, and I would spend most of it alone, at home, on my mobile phone, or avoiding my mobile phone.

I bet yesterday that I would do some exercise today, but I appear to have got those numbers wrong as well. (The day isn’t over yet…)

I found out today about a new book on an ambulance driver in Aleppo, Syria, who created a sanctuary amidst the war for the city’s cats.

Cat lovers unite.
