Arguments in Musicology

Kevin and I are arguing whether t.A.T.u. have taken over Britney Spears' industry... you know, the dirty men industry. Kevin doesn`t think so, because there's always space for one more in that field. But I`m not convinced. Don't you think Britney has "matured" (i.e. she now is a turn off for everyone?) I don't know, maybe I'm being naive.

And would I be a dirty man if I bought a t.A.T.u. album? I really want to know what their cover of The Smiths' How Soon Is Now sounds like... I swear!

I don't think the dirty men industry has a theoretical size limit.

I think Britney is on the verge of being a turn-off, but not quite yet. She's definitely not going to age well.

Hmmm, t.a.t.u. are definitely on to something. Sad that our most popular music stars have declined from the hint of sex (elvis), to sex (madonna), to thinly veiled dirty old man barely legal sexiness (britney), to not-so-thinly veiled lesbian/barely legal sex (t.a.t.u.) - or maybe it's a natural progression.

Britney is not done. I think she'll pull a Madonna and reinvent herself to make it fresh again soon.

It's kinda dirty old mannish to like them. Of course, my roommate was listening to the original russian version of the album before any of us knew they were going to import. We called them 'tattoo', because we didn't know any better.
