It doesn't matter who wins this election: the troops aren't going to miraculously pull out of Iraq, or be suddenly showered with gifts and flowers by the Iraqis; the corporations won't change their minds and negate their extensive contracts to bleed the Iraqi soil dry; Americans won't wake up tomorrow if Kerry is elected with a sudden desire to stop using their SUVs, and no polititian has global warming, Africa, 3rd world debt, or how to stop the free from getting fatter in their agenda.

The only joy from seeing Kerry win is the banishment of the evangelicals. Then again, four years go by so fast and we could all be watching Cheney being elected president in 2008.

Some part of me wants Bush to win tomorrow. Ever since he came into power, he has thrown the corruption of the American government into relief. We no longer hear about cheap women from Arkansas seducing the president but real plans to change the geo-political forces of the world and secure for America a better economical future. It makes a lot of sense for the American government (whoever is in there) to take over the oil fields. They aren't thinking about being polite or fair; they want the "glory" of the American dream to last longer, hopefully until there is hardly any more petrol on this planet and a new solution has come up for our energy demands. America is like a cunning predator, securing its food and environment, protecting its cubs. The disgusting thing, in my view, is the Christian rhetoric and hypocrisy that covers it. The Romans never hid their true intentions. Bush reminds me of that allegory, of the good king who died so his advisors found a man who looked like him to take his place. The problem was that the king's twin was a fool and, through his actions, he began to show the real corruption of the court.

I've started writing my novel last night. I put on some Kronos Quartet (The Early Recordings), sat in the bedroom while Kevin silently navigated the net, and let all those built-up ideas pour out. I had an idea for this novel a few months ago, and I had already prepared an outline and some character sketches. The story, though, immediatly changed as I began to write. It was as if something else lay dormant and wished to make itself known. I'm cool with that; I'm ok with following my imagination.

E.M. Forster or Henry James, I don't know which, said that writing a novel is like approaching a mountain: you know you have to go over it, but you don't know which path you will have to take. You work your way to it, you suffer climbing it, then you have your reward once you get to the other side. In my opinion, the mountain itself must be the reward, not the finishing line. You climb the mountain and try to enjoy the view. Maybe you even get to see a mountain lion. So I'm not being hard on myself or creating unnecessary pressures. I'm going to enjoy this:

That and the hope of seeing some form of sense in the appointment of Supreme Court judges. There's a couple who're overdue to pop their clogs any minute, and if the Religious Right have a hand in the hiring of their successors, there'll be Bad Things.

what you say is true, however, unlike bush, kerry doesn't plan to take away a women's right to abortion. he is also against oil drilling in the arctic, opposes a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, is willing to resolve the iraq situation more diplomatically, opposes the privatization of social security, wants tougher clean air emissions standards and fuel efficiency standards, etc. bush has turned this country into an even bigger joke, and i strongly believe that it's time for regime change.

Oh, I strongly doubt that many of these Christian fanatic people actually follow the "rules" of their religion.

Also - whuh? Corruption is huh? It's larger than ever, Kenneth Lay was one of Bush's best mates, when Enron went down in flames he sent letters to Georgie Boy pleading for help. The Carlyle Group, which Bush and dad and family are a part of, also do business with the Bin Laden family and the House of Saud. The FBI is already investigating just WHY Halliburton got all those contracts in Iraq and the competition didn't stand a chance (Dick Cheney used to head Halliburton), and Halliburton were investigated after the Enron thing anyways, or at least under serious scrutiny.

I'd rather the president get a blow job, tbh.

America won't wake up tomorrow with President Kerry and suddenly think "hey, guns are dangerous...", feel the need to vote Green and hug trees, but at least the overall country itself will be headed in a better direction, the situation in Iraq at least will have a chance of getting better and maybe, just maybe, we'll get some of our rights back that were taken away in the Patriot Act. And there won't be an amendment passed - an actual ratified change to the US constitution! - to ban gay marraiges, and women will be safe in their right to choice, the world might stop hating us (quite as much, at least) and...god, the chance to the UK is going ot be HUGE and...it'll make a massive difference.

Also, there's something like 4-5 Supreme Court Justice places open, and the President will get to choose who fills them. It's quite important that no freakish right wing idiots get chosen or else all is fucked for the rest of these peoples live spans...

Bah.

I'm going to start biting my nails again today, I just know it.
