Tuesday's Bleak Sanctuary of Mememeness
It took me forever to fall asleep last night. Woke up grumpy and tired, with an itchy throat and a black cloud hanging over my head. Work is... work. Feel the same about it as all of you - despondent, lazy, devious, truculent and demode.
Some new year's resolutions:
- Not watch any movies with the following actors: Angelina Jolie, Tom Hanks, Goody Goody Junior, Tom Hanks, Nicholas Cage, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
- Not watch any movies where Tom Cruise plays a good guy or/and a heterosexual.
- Watch more obscure "foreign" movies.
- Be more like Miss Jane Marple and solve tons of mysteries.
- Swim loads.
- Eat less chips and crisps.
- Get a job that makes me feel passionate, excited and/or happy.
- Cut down my Livejournal friends' list without feeling guilty and/or mean.

And 'bout your resolutions:
-Angelina Jolie couldn't be so bad in Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow: I'll give a try to this film, but never to a film with all of the other ones!! (and I'll add my hated Julia Roberts!!!).
-Obscure "foreign" movies. "The machinist" (Brad Anderson) and "Last call" (Takashi Miike): don't know if they've been released on the UK, but if you have any chance to watch them, DO IT!!!
-Miss Jane Marple!!! But she is not sexy!! LOL
-Swim loads... I want my back to stop aching to return to the swimming-pool...

Só tenho 4 resoluções este ano;
- Tornar-me vegetariano.
- Associar-me a um ginásio.
- Aprender nadar.
- 1ª PRIORIDADE ir a Portugal.
Mas talvez posso ser mais parecido com a senhora Marple, nunca pensei nisto...

A little birdie tells me you can't make the engagement party on Friday. Damn - another missed opportunity...
I agreee with you about Miss Marple. She's great. The previous actress, Joan Hickson, was famous in Russia for the way she said "Ooooooh!" when she put two and two together and came up with the butler in the library with the revolver.

He is the GOLDEN RULE of cinemagoing, as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't even watch "The Ladykillers". The "Tom Hanks = Bad" rule cancels even the "Coen Brothers = Good" rule.
I would also add Richard Gere, Julia Roberts, Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio to the list.
Ooh, I share your feelings on "Taking Lives" - we rented it the other week. It was so bad as to be actually offensive! However, as much as I can't think of a second example, I refuse to hear a bad word said about Angelina's finest hour - the MIGHTY "Hackers" (one of my TOP TEN movies EVER!).

I love Miss Marple - when I was younger I *so* wanted to be her- and I liked the new series - but it just wasn't the same as the Joan Hickson ones - they're still my favourite. I like the fact that, although she's light years ahead of the police the whole time, she still berates herself for not understanding clues quicker and solving the problems sooner.
'Get a job that makes me feel passionate, excited and/or happy.'- yup- I could definitely go along with that one - here's hoping it works out for both of us.
