Tuesday's Bleak Sanctuary of Mememeness

It took me forever to fall asleep last night. Woke up grumpy and tired, with an itchy throat and a black cloud hanging over my head. Work is... work. Feel the same about it as all of you - despondent, lazy, devious, truculent and demode.

Some new year's resolutions:

- Not watch any movies with the following actors: Angelina Jolie, Tom Hanks, Goody Goody Junior, Tom Hanks, Nicholas Cage, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
- Not watch any movies where Tom Cruise plays a good guy or/and a heterosexual.
- Watch more obscure "foreign" movies.
- Be more like Miss Jane Marple and solve tons of mysteries.
- Swim loads.
- Eat less chips and crisps.
- Get a job that makes me feel passionate, excited and/or happy.
- Cut down my Livejournal friends' list without feeling guilty and/or mean.

Well... you've said: work is... work. It isn't life, so why living life through your job? It's only 8 hours per day to be fucked up... but yep, it's a good idea to keep on looking for a new job where you can feel passionate!! (I want it too!!)

And 'bout your resolutions:
-Angelina Jolie couldn't be so bad in Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow: I'll give a try to this film, but never to a film with all of the other ones!! (and I'll add my hated Julia Roberts!!!).
-Obscure "foreign" movies. "The machinist" (Brad Anderson) and "Last call" (Takashi Miike): don't know if they've been released on the UK, but if you have any chance to watch them, DO IT!!!
-Miss Jane Marple!!! But she is not sexy!! LOL
-Swim loads... I want my back to stop aching to return to the swimming-pool...

You wont watch any Tom Cruise movie?

[identity profile] greenteablack.livejournal.com 2005-01-04 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
hahaha are there a lot of mysteries to be solved in your area?

Hahaha, O Tom Hanks me irrita mto. Ele tem cara de babaca e sempre faz papel dele mesmo...

Tou ainda de férias! =o) Mas só até manhã...e tenho mto trabalho para fazer... =o\

Só tenho 4 resoluções este ano;

- Tornar-me vegetariano.
- Associar-me a um ginásio.
- Aprender nadar.
- 1ª PRIORIDADE ir a Portugal.

Mas talvez posso ser mais parecido com a senhora Marple, nunca pensei nisto...

i'm with you on the tom hanks thing...the worst was the one (i forget the name) where he's stranded on an island and talks a volleyball the whole film.

Ohh...but "Splash" was pretty good!

i absolutely abhor Tom Hanks and Nick Cage...the only other one i'd add to that list is Robin Williams...

I have some resloutions myself. But I am not putting all kinds of pressure on myself, it's pretty much things that I am moving towards anyway you know?

<3 I was going to call you over the holidays. I think I still might!

Not you too! Everyone I know has had trouble readjusting to the damn work malarkey. I listened to Radio 4 and then the World Service for hours and it didn't make me go to sleep.

A little birdie tells me you can't make the engagement party on Friday. Damn - another missed opportunity...

I agreee with you about Miss Marple. She's great. The previous actress, Joan Hickson, was famous in Russia for the way she said "Ooooooh!" when she put two and two together and came up with the butler in the library with the revolver.

Yeees. I think I've already told you my feelings on Tom Hanks. I'm with you all the way!

He is the GOLDEN RULE of cinemagoing, as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't even watch "The Ladykillers". The "Tom Hanks = Bad" rule cancels even the "Coen Brothers = Good" rule.

I would also add Richard Gere, Julia Roberts, Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio to the list.

Ooh, I share your feelings on "Taking Lives" - we rented it the other week. It was so bad as to be actually offensive! However, as much as I can't think of a second example, I refuse to hear a bad word said about Angelina's finest hour - the MIGHTY "Hackers" (one of my TOP TEN movies EVER!).

Hugh Grant,
Matt Dammon

more to come.

When I was little (maybe 10? 12?) my brother and I started a Detective Business. We went around the neighborhood and without any irony asked if people had any mysteries they needed solved; No Job Is Too Small.

*snicker*

All admirable resolutions :)

I love Miss Marple - when I was younger I *so* wanted to be her- and I liked the new series - but it just wasn't the same as the Joan Hickson ones - they're still my favourite. I like the fact that, although she's light years ahead of the police the whole time, she still berates herself for not understanding clues quicker and solving the problems sooner.

'Get a job that makes me feel passionate, excited and/or happy.'- yup- I could definitely go along with that one - here's hoping it works out for both of us.
