Brazil Trip Getting Near

In less than three weeks I'm catching a plane to Brazil. I've already started putting stuff into my suitcase so I won't forget it behind, like my mother's Good Housekeeping magazines. The shorts are coming out of the drawers as well as the few t-shirts that survived the Winter. I'm overdue a shopping trip for Summer gear. I also need to buy other things for my mom, like the perfume "Beautiful" by Estee Lauder and Bisto (there's none in Brazil despite our love for read meat.)

For my brother Nicholas, I'm buying two pairs of shoes that are commonly found in Portobello's market and which contain a type of lamb fur inside. His feet get very cold in the Winter (he has poor circulation because he can't walk). For my other brother, Martin, I'm buying some books, a CD or two, and some Beatles memorabilia for his girlfriend. I haven't met her yet but he told me she's a big Beatles fan.

I return from Brazil on the 27th of March. I hope Winter will be over by then.

When the weather was warmer, I'd go swimming in the mornings all the time. I get up at 6.30 so I can be at my gym for 7a.m., when the doors open. Still, the pool is usually busy and there's always one or two people who should not be in the fast lane.

But swimming in the mornings is much better than later, when the pool gets very crowded.

As for fat people, how are they supposed to lose weight if they don't exercise? I don't mind seeing people of any size or shape, to be honest. Everyone has to start somewhere if they want to lose weight. ;-)

I have no objection to fat people. I have objections to fat people floating aimlessly in lanes designated for swimming. Although, I do confess the occasional squick at seeing men with pendulous, wobbling breasts, despite my best attempts to be body-positive.

When the weather was warm, I occasionally went swimming in Hampstead Heath swimming ponds - it's really quite invigorating, and a lovely place to swim.
