My Life as a Cry Baby

Scene from the film My Life as a Dog

Films that have made me teary-eyed (or cry)

1. My Life as a Dog, last night on BBC4
2. E.T.
3. The Neverending Story
4. Central Station
5. Boys Don't Cry
6. Schindler's List
7. The Colour Purple
8. The Station Agent
9. Buena Vista Social Club
10. Fucking Amal (also known as Show Me Love)
11. Beautiful Thing
12. Together
13. Nights of Cabiria

There have also been instances in front of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Brat Camp (the first British season), and various assorted documentaries about regular families who manage to overcome some kind of obstacle and be stronger/better/happier. And I'm sure there are films I'm not remembering right now.

I need to own a copy of My Life as a Dog. Watched it last night, felt like doing nothing afterwards but thinking about it. Some films feel like a beautiful, and truthful, novel put to life, and that was one of them.

Oooh, I've seen ten of the thirteen (just missing numbers 3, 6 and 13). Together made me very teary-eyed indeed.

I've actually got My Life As A Dog on DVD, from when it was given away free with The Independent a few months ago. What's more, I think the overall file size might be small enough to copy it onto one of those blank DVDs which you buy in Tesco (as opposed to the industrial strength ones which films usually come on, which hold twice as much).

I know it's scant comparison to having the real thing, but if you'd like me to attempt to make you a copy then let me know...

Oh, I can't believe I missed the opportunity to get a copy with the Independent! I want to find out if the DVD version in shops has anything extra. If not, I'd love to have a copy from you... maybe I can return a mix cd? :)

No problem, just let me know if you want a copy!
