Squirrels are Toast

Celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver are being urged to feature grey squirrel on their menus.

Full story here

I don't know if this could ever come to pass in Britain. Maybe squirrel meat tastes good, but would I ever actively choose it from a menu if there were other options? Have any of you ever eaten squirrel meat? What does it taste like?

the notion of eating roadkill in Australia is definately wierd. Most of it's either of the Wombat or Wallaby variety . . . And ok people eat Kangaroo all the time here - though I've never heard of anyone taking it home to spit roast over the BBQ.

Last year I stopped being a Vegetarian after 6 years and my eyes are much more widly opened to the scope and reasonings behind meat now. I definately think you've got a valid call with the whole way by which we go about getting our meat. Though it's not really like I can complain, my parents own a free range butcher shop :)
