Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy flight in my previous post. You have no idea how much power you hold:

  • KLM air stewardess: "As you can see, you are sitting right beside an emergency exit. There are a few things you need to know: if the plane crashes, you must pull this tag and the door will open. If the door doesn´t open, you must push it. However, you must only open the door once the alarm bell stops ringing. If you open the door before that, you will be sucked into the engine, and that wouldn´t be very pleasant."
  • Out of all the passengers boarding the KLM flight to Brasil, I was one of the few to be frisked by the security guard. I love it when people think I´m dangerous/dodgy-looking.
  • As soon as the plane took off, one of the air stewards skipped down the aisle. Not run. Not walk fast. Skipped.
  • There were over 50 movies, 50 CDs, videogames and even Sudoku games to play. I could watch new fair like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as well as the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. I fulfilled one of my lifetime dreams: I watched an airplane thriller inside an airplane (including bombs, shootings and the kidnapping of a little girl - Flightpan). I thought there was an international law against undue passenger distress? Perhaps passengers are now allowed to sensibly stress themselves out?

I´m now at the farm. My aunts, grandmother and brother are here. It´s sunny and I´ve been taking photos of the dogs drinking water from the pond. When I went to hang my towel to dry in the morning, a great kiskadee flew over me. Apparently, toucans have been flying down the mountain during certain times of the day. We are going to leave some seeds and fruits out for them.

At the moment, because of my family being around, I don´t have time to catch up with LJ. I´ll try doing so in a couple of days. I hope you are all well!

I'm glad to hear your flight went well. I sat once at the door and got that little talk from the flight attendant but she didn't mention the "being sucked out into the engine." Maybe mine wanted to see just what would happen if I did it. Sadistic bitch ;)

I'm amazed at how much entertainment flights offer now. It's shocking.

I always spend most of my time watching the "you are here" channel, as the little dot I'm in slooowly traces its way around the world.

Hooray!!!
I loved being frisked for the same reason! I imagine that they think I'm a member of the IRA or something.

On a flight to Bulgaira, my mother once pointed out to the burly moustachied stewardess that, despite the safety announcement, she actually _didn't_ have a life jacket under her seat. The stewardess shrugged, and said "It's OK; Iff ve cresh, ve'll cresh on llend." Very comforting.

Maybe the security people frisked you because they fancied you? :-)

Could you please remember your quest to find my daughter a nice boyfriend while you are there...a handsome Brazilian son-in law would go down rather well!

I am so happy to hear you had a great flight! Reading this post, I was all sorts of gay-boy lovey-dovey gushy about you. I wish we lived closer! *smooches*

Helloooooooo over there!
Sad our paths didn't cross in duty free, but glad you are back safe and sound. I got frisked too and made to take my shoes off because they were boots and could be filled with all manner of explosives, yet the man with the trainers in front could pass freely with shoes intact, hmm, but that's JFK for you.
Isn't the inflight entertainment system fantastic?! I watched Pride and Prejudice, (only for Donald Sutherland not for trout face!) Scrubs, Little Britain and certain parts Jarhead far too many times, no wonder I have felt fried for the past couple of days.
Looking forward to reading your adventures on the farm soon.
Glad you are having a lovely time.
Beijos

I can't believe they have movies like that on the plane!!! Isn't the terror of strapping yourself to a heavy metal missile with wings and shooting yourself across the planet not enough?!! Jesus H Cripes.

Well I'm glad you made it safe and sound and are now extremely busy eating watermelon. How was the posada party? Did you meet the mayor? Did your relatives from all colours of houses come?

Oh, by the way, I've changed my mind about a pair of shorts, bring me a toucan instead. I want a toucan!!!

YAY for your safe trip... LOL
and I hate when security guards think I'm dangerous. I'm cute, I can't be dangerous :D
