Rumours said he was working on new songs and demos and was supposed to be back to the puclic eye early this year but he didnt :(
No one really knows about him. I have a friend in London who has been to some tears and brett aftershow parties and the rest of suede were there, even Simon (who is in thailand) but never Richard :(

I guess he had enough "brett" for the rest of his life... I hope he returns someday with a new band.
