The place was called Cherry Jam, not Cherry Ground. And the band we saw was named Franz Ferdinand, after the Serbian shot in the beginning of last century, who sparked the first World War.

They were alright. The guitar player looked like an extra from Pulp, the drummer an electrician with a moustache. They played boppy, fast indie, non-melodic music. One song almost descended into white funk (which would have been great); but they ended that and went on with their set list. If they were a more experienced band, they would have followed the audiences` excitement…

At first, I thought they might be from Glasgow. But Megan told me they were perhaps Scandinavian. She came with her friends Lindsey and Phillip. Nice Scots, like herself, but they missed the entire set, apart from the last song. Still, we stood around drinking afterwards, talking about David Lynch, novels that have horrible protagonists, how to immigrate to Canada and the benefits/downside of living in the South of London.

We got back home around 12.30. Example of what a cheap drunk I am? I had only 3 bottled beers, and I`ve got a hang over today!

8.06 in the morning. Liberty AM. The Bangles. "Manic Monday". This song used to be forbidden, here in England, from playing any other day except Monday. Believe it or not. I had just come out of the shower. Kevin was looking at me like a caterpillar that refuses to leave its cocoon. I jiggled. Water dripping from my hair. Ah, nice way to start the day.

Then Phil Collins came on and I realized I had a headache.

If anyone tells you they are the number 1 fan of The Thrills, you give them a really hard slap on the face and tell them:

"No! Ollie is their numero um fan… not you!"

I've just received unbelievably good news from my friend Bruno in Brazil. For those of you who might not remember, he's a friend of mine who works as a music reviewer for the magazine Trip. Well... he sent me an e-mail asking if I would like to go to Beth Gibbon's show this saturday. Free tickets for Kevin and I, take same photos, perhaps talk to her.

Beth Gibbons is the singer from Portishead. I love Portishead. I`m petrified. What am i going to ask her?

"Is Portishead going to release anything soon? Are you planning on touring Brazil?"

Those are good questions, aren't they? I'm hopping this works out. The last time, when he asked me to review a gig by The Hives, i never got the tickets... he says I just need to write a little review, similar to the one I did for Morcheeba.

(i`m grinning like an idiot...)

*slaps face a couple of times*

Get a grip Ollie!
