Silke, Kevin and i saw a brilliant documentary yesterday, about Diana Dors. It was called
Who Got Diana Dors' Millions? I didn't know this, but Diana Dors was England's answer to Marylin Monroe - not only did she star in movies as a seductress but she recorded songs aswell. If you have
Morrissey's compilation "Under the Influence", then you know her song "So Little Time" (brillian, isn't it?)

The documentary was about how, in 1982, she gave her son a letter with a coded sheet and told him that the code, when deciphered, would tell him where to find around 2 million pounds she had stashed away (she was a tax dodger.) 18 months later she was dead of cancer. Her husband, who had the key to the code, killed himself soon afterwards and took to his grave the secret of the code.
20 years on and the son came to England to try to break the code. The documentary showed his quest, from meeting his long-lost half brother, to interviewing croonies in the Eastend who worked with the Kray Brothers (quintessential English gangsters who were good friends with Diana). It even included a visit to a crazy fan who bought all of her memorabilia in the 80s and lives in a creepy pigstie... he kinda looked like Bob, from
Twin Peaks.
In the end, the son cracked the code with the help of some Masonic code books (Diana's father was a mason) and a software developed in England. The sheet Diana had handed her son contained the surnames and the cities where her money was kept - she had opened bank accounts under false names so the tax people couldn't catch her. But her money will never be found because the key with the first names and the name of the banks was probably lost by her suicidal husband.
if you think you might know how to help Diana's son in his quest to get the money, you can go
