What do I need to know about the Pope in relation to May 2004?
Past - The Lovers
This card refers to communication and a desire for a union (either physical or spiritual). Leading up to May 2004, the Pope is worried about the union of his church, as well as communicating to the world a synthesis of all the moral responsibility he has learned in life. Could also represent desires in other people to meet him, talk to him, communicate with him in some manner. Perhaps those pesky netgoths going to visit him in May? This card might represent a continual preocupation in the Pope's mind, that he must embrace his coming death. He doesn't see his death as negative, or fearful - he seems to almost embrace it, and wish for it like a lover's longing.
Present - Prince of Cups Reversed
A very strange card to appear in the reading: it denotes a homosexual! Either that or someone submerged in dreams and illusions of a sexual kind (possibly a closeted homosexual.) Could the next Pope be gay??? And this knowledge might be one of the last worries of Pope John Paul II? Could we see, by May 2004, an emergence of this new Pope? This card doesn't necessarily mean that the old Pope will die, but there's certainly a new person in the scheme of things that is not our loved and known Pope. This person is being pushed forward as the new Pope (he might already be in power by May 2004) - and he is certainly in the mind of the old Pope.
Future - The Magician Reversed
Someone pulling strings from behind the scene, a liar... someone unsure of their fledging individual power. This card seems to point again at a newcomer, a person coming into possession of a power which doesn't suit him well. This person won't come out of the shadows because he is unsure of the illusions set in place to mask him in the public arena. This person is completely out of his depth. Once again, I wonder whether the old Pope is dead by May... all these descriptions of a newcomer seem to point to John Paul no longer being in power. In any case, if it's true that John Paul II is no longer alive, the new Pope might not be seen as someone as charismatic as the old Pope.
But, having just written the above, I really do hope the Pope is still alive and that everyone planning on visiting the Vatican in May (me included!) will be able to see him.
Good night and God bless.
