1. Where were you when you heard that Ronald Reagan died?

Probably at work, checking my Yahoo account for lj comments. I thought he had died years ago.

2. Where were you on September 11, 2001?

It was exactly one week before Kevin and I were due to fly out of Canada and come live in England. I woke up in the morning (we were staying with Kevin's parents at their farm) and turned on the radio. When they said that planes had hit the Twin Towers and another one had hit the Pentagon, I stumbled into the living room and turned on the television. Spent the day in that position and at night I had a nightmare I was inside one of the planes. I woke up crying.

3. Where were you when you heard that Princess Diana died?

I had just flown into Montreal from Hong Kong, after the handover to the Chinese. I was staying at my friends Ashley and Denise's apartment, near Sherbrooke and Concordia. It was evening and we were drinking Gin and Tonics on their balcony (they lived in this cute Melrose Place type of apartment complex) when one of the neighbours stuck out their head out of the window and told us Diana was seriously injured. We found out in the morning that she was dead.

4. Do you remember where you were when you heard Kurt Cobain had died?

I was living in Hong Kong, possibly close to the date when I went to Montreal for university. I was watching Channel V (Hong Kong's answer to MTV) when they gave the news. I called my friend Susannah and left a message with her (surprised) brother that Kurt had died.

5. Take one for The Gipper: What’s your favorite flavor of jelly bean?

I'm not really into candy.

6. Where were you when Magic Johnson announced he was retiring from the NBA due to AIDS?

I remember him talking on tv about it, in a news conference - but I have no clue when or where.

7. Where were you when Reagan was shot?

I was too young to know or care. Probably watching Scooby-doo.

8.Where were you when the Challenger exploded?

In Brazil. Same as the above, though I do remember watching news footage on the telly.

9. Where were you when the 0J verdict was announced?

I already suspected he was going to be acquitted (I remember reading something about how the jury did not understand the concept of DNA). I was in Montreal, first year of uni. I smoked a lot of pot back then so I don't think I cared much for these news.
