( Brief review of The Edukators (including spoilers) )
After we watched The Edukators, Kevin and I went for a walk in the rain. We found a nearby cafe, L'Etoile, and ended up talking about our lives and what the hell we are doing in London. The conversation was directly triggered by the film, by characters who we recognized as ourselves once -- not in the squalor or revolutionary practices, but in their youthfulness -- and we got back to the same worries we have about work and the place we call home. On the way back to the apartment, I told Kevin that I would understand if he wanted to leave London because he'd found a better job somewhere else; we could try the long distance relationship again as long as we were both fairly sure that we were happy in our jobs, and that we'd eventually be back together again. If my contract is extended, I won't want to leave London; but I can't expect Kevin to stay here if he keeps getting shitty temp jobs and nothing appears in the field he wants to work in (graphic design, animation, writing).
I also bought Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man's album "Out of Season" at Fop. I saw her play live in London three years ago and it took me this long to get the flippin' CD. For 5 pounds, it was an excellent purchase.
