Letters From the Edge of My Seat
May. 21st, 2006 11:09 pmHow many people in London can say that they once met their future landlady for a tour of their future neighbourhood, including a visit to an art gallery (for the exhibition "Inner Worlds Outside"), the local leisure centre, and a pub? Not many, etc.
My future landlady also happens to be a good friend, Megan, who will be renting her apartment to Kevin & I in July (long time readers of this journal will remember her as my gym buddy during the time I worked at King's College). We've got tentative plans of restarting our gym buddy partnership; when she gave us the tour of the local gym, Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" was playing, and I pointed out to her how that used to be one of "our songs" back in the day. Fate, etc.
Despite the rain, we had a good time wandering around Mile End and Whitechapel. Her partner met up with us at Whitechapel Art Gallery with his children and he told me a little bit about being classmates with Shahbaz in the early 90s (that deserves a whole post in
bigbrother_uk; I told him to sell the story to a newspaper but, since he didn't want to, I figured it was no harm sharing it with da fans). Gossip, etc.
I've started swimming again after being away from chlorine for almost two months. It felt good. I'm also sorry that I missed the Eurovision Party last night. There were tons of people I was looking forward to seeing again but I was too knackered to handle excessive commutes, etc. Gotta speak, in particular, to Mr & Ms Love Muffin so we can better plan our trip to the Hay Festival next weekend. Margaret Atwood is gonna have to sign my book with her own hands even if I have to stradle her and do a Shahbaz impersonation. I'm having none of that "autograph signing machine" business.
