King`s Seat

Still at work, though not in my office. Ate lunch at the cafeteria (tuna sandwich, crisps, coffee and milk), then went straight to the library to use the comps.

I realized so much more about lj today >>> I had no idea this fake celebrity thing existed.

Where does everyone find the time to track their celebs and figure out what they are doing/not doing? I guess people could just bullshit... but I think the fun of it would be in its accuracy, non?

When I was a teenager, there was no Internet. Either you had a sex life... or you didn't. In that case you sat in your room listening to gloomy music, planning ways of killing the obnoxious people at school.

I`m glad the Internet saved some lives.

(the bitterness in this entry might stem from the fact that the only account code I had the right to was given to my brother... and he doesn't even use his journal anymore... so I can't be any celeb >>> there ain't no 14 minutes of fame for me.)

what is this lj celebrity thing you are talking about???

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
well, search for michael_jackson for example, or tom_cruise. There are people out there with these journals, "pretending" to be them. It`s looks fun, because Wacko has Ellen Degeneres, Celine Dion, and other weirdos for friends!!!

I want a celeb journal too!!!

cheers! I ended up giving it to my friend Karla, because she wanted to join.

She is slave2dafunk, if you feel inclined in making a new friend... she shares some of your passions: pot and movies!

:o)

Nah, i`ll just stick to my journal.

Fake celebrities

[identity profile] dawnage.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
*Hello*

I added [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] (Rachel Stamp) as a friend as I actually used to know him quite a few years ago. I've since realised that it's not actually David, but as this imposter added me back as a friend I'm too embarrassed to remove him!

*hi*

who is david ryder?

fake celebrities can be quite interesting I think... why do they do it? why did they pick that particular person?

Re: Fake celebrities

[identity profile] dawnage.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
This (http://www.rachelstamp.co.uk/band/davidep001.html) is David Ryder - minor indie celebrity / Camden face.

God only knows why he was picked - most people (ie. you!) have never even heard of him!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
never never never heard of him! or Rachel Stamp. Are they (the band) any good? Was the faker funny at least? That would be some consolation, wouldn't it?

Re: Fake celebrities

[identity profile] dawnage.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
They're ok - quite noisy. Liked by the sort of people who get obsessed with early Manics and wear too much makeup.

The faker's diary consists largely of detail (sometimes graphic) about his relationship with a man called Stefan (possibly also in the band, or in Placebo). Although I don't remember David being straight (only ever saw him when pissed), I don't remember him being gay either, so not sure quite what has inspired the diary!

I remember finding this out a few months ago too. I think I 1st stumbled upon someone who claimed to be Meg White and I was like, "No way!" and believed it for a minute but it only took me a minute to find out what the whole thing was about and that there are a lot of journals like that.

Re:

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
it's quite funny... some of them. the michael jackson one is particularly disturbing.

[identity profile] roguejournal.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
i have seen some fake celeb journals some time ago, and I found it so funny I couldn't stop laughing!!

Fake it till you make it

[identity profile] soopahiro.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)

It's like a huge, globe-spanning soap opera. Part of the fun is that 50% of the entries are do to research, the other is just this strange LJ universe where an actor from Felicity dates royalty, and most of the boys from Blur are/were dating. They're really entertaining if you can find some good ones.

I started one, but they're supposed to be anonymous, so I can't give any hints. ;)
