I Need an Exorcist

One of our guests saw a ghost outside her chalet this past weekend. She said he was a man in a suit, with hair slicked back.

My 4-year-old nephew, who lives at the entrance to our guesthouse, has also been seeing a man at night. This one sits in my brother's living room when the lights go out and waves at my nephew if he happens to wander by.

My sister-in-law tried to tell him there was nothing to be afraid of, that the man was good. But my nephew replied "no mom, he's not nice - he's worse than a bicho papão." [1]

One of our maids has heard a baby cry in our laundry room and a male voice whisper calming words to it.

The list of things that have broken or blown up by themselves these past two months is endless: my mom's car, the pool's motor, the water pump, a varanda double-glazed window, computers, laptops, cameras, fridges, washing machines, lamps, televisions, routers, even my bloody flip flops.

A few weeks ago, I had to sleep at my grandmother's house because the guesthouse was full. I had the house to myself as my grandmother prefers to sleep in the main house. (She doesn't mind spending the day alone in her house but she gets scared alone at night.)

I woke up in the early hours to the sound of someone moving cutlery, cups and plates in her kitchen. I didn't dare get up and investigate. All doors were locked from the inside in the morning.

[1] A bicho papão is a type of "monster under the bed", wheeled out to scare disobedient children.

You do not want to fuck with demons. They will follow if they attach. Jason's parents house=same problem. I will not ever spend a night there. During daylight hours we saw: Jason and I walked down the stairs and both startled an Angel one day, she had a look on her face they basically translated to...oh shit, you were not supposed to see me and then flew out the fireplace, we both looked at each other and screamed at the same time did you see that?! The last night I was there overnight storm clouds gathered over my bed and the room grew ice cold and electrically charged. That was shortly before Jason's Mom started to lose her mind... I always feel that the place is a portal of some kind...very much Ghostbusters, I know (sounds weird but...)...or something just attached to the land, I do not know. We are mere mortals, I do not think we need to know it all. That kind of thing does frighten me. Luckily (for living in that house) Jason's parents are extremely religious...they have not been frightened away and pray continually and hold Bible studies there weekly. My faith is shaky, at best, most days.

I´m starting to think the living are worse than the dead...

What kind of exorcism are you planning? Something with a priest or something with a witch doctor?

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-13 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Something from as many faiths as I can get! Or sell the property asap and return to my life in London.

[identity profile] olamina.livejournal.com 2014-03-27 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I vote for this. I am afraid to come visit you there now!

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-31 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe! Things are better now. Apparently, "my spirit" bumped away many bad spirits that were surrounding my mom.

As my aunt says, "things were waiting to break just as you arrived because they knew you could fix it..."

Can you use this in the marketing?

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-13 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Only for sales of my autobiography.

Yikes! That is creepy. Maybe Uncle Pepe's in town and he's been napping during daylight hours so nobody's seen him yet? See if this ghost speaks Spanish. ;)

Actually, Uncle Pepe spent Carnaval with us! He was here at the same time as the guest who saw the man in the suit...

try and ask the ghost to leave, especially the people seeing him should do that. Maybe you need to research a bit on how to do it but on a few forums I've read that it helped quite a few people. I asked my sister-in-law to pray in the living room with my nephew. As for myself, I´m praying we sell all of this soon so I can return to London and my life!

Oh wow. I don't believe in anything supernatural at all, but this is terrifying. Hope you're okay!

Thanks... I currently feel like Elenor from The Haunt of Hill House... which is a whole post in itself.

Just don't climb any rickety staircases or drive a car anywhere near any trees and you'll be fine. :)

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-13 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
We have rickety stairs leading up to our attic, and I´m starting driving lessons soon...

Arghhhhhhhh.

Is your laptop fixed now, or are you still on your phone?

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-13 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Laptop still broken. My triple-blessed iPhone still working!!

[identity profile] androktone.livejournal.com 2014-03-12 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
ooh!
One of our old houses, we were half convinced there were ghosts (despite me not believing in them, the house was cold and hostile with odd goings on and people who stayed felt "watched" and "threatened")

A friend who is into wicca suggested we make a bundle of dried sage twigs tied with string (a smudghe stick) and walked round every room singing loudly and beating pots and waving the smoke from the sage in all the dark corners, which I did with the kids.

We felt a lot better after that. Whether psychosomatic or not having a family ritual to clear the air is worth doing once everyone has started to think there are ghosts.

Over here, they´ve told me to drop coarse salt on all corners of the house, apart from the entrance. And to take pictures of my great-grandma to a ceremony, as well as clothing my mom used recently (a ceremony at a place that performs magic brought over from Africa.)

[identity profile] androktone.livejournal.com 2014-03-13 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you going to do it?

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-14 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I wanted to... now I´m not so sure.

[identity profile] zenithed.livejournal.com 2014-03-12 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dear, sounds like another reason I should never move to the countryside. At least in London most ghosts have too many other strange noises to compete with.

[identity profile] picosgemeos.livejournal.com 2014-03-13 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ghosts in London have to compete with masked killers wielding knives...
