Post-Birthday

can I say how much all my livejournal friends are awesome? All of you remembered my birthday (and how could you not, after a gazillion reminders by me? *lol*)

On the other hand, I didn't get an email or phone call from my brother or dad... and, as for all of those "friends" i have in Brazil and Canada, the only ones that remembered were roguejournal and Helen (one of the first friends I made when I moved to Canada... she rocks.)

But, despite having just mentioned the above, I'm not upset with them. People forget, people have stuff going on in their lives. What annoys me is when they get upset if I forget their birthdays... come on! If you are going to forget other people's birthdays, don't give me that shit. Birthdays are not a big deal anyways. All the human cells I had when I was born are long dead. The body I have now does not resemble the body I had when I was born (apart from my eyes, i think.)

half of my friends forgot my birthday, even those who were reminded. so don't worry ... i guess birthday is a second-hand kind of thing.

maybe it loses importance for people as they grow older. For me, it was great that so many of my lj friends said something, and it was great that I could have dinner at night with Kevin, my mom and Silke. :)

Happy belated gecko, by the way. I wasn't sure what you were hinting at, but I'm new.

Just thought I'd be all smarmy and pedantic and remind you that all baby's eyes are blueish when they're born and solidify to whatever colour they actually turn when they're a few months old. So if your eyes aren't blue-grey, you don't have the same eyes as when you were born either. If you do, then you're right. ^_^

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm betting our parents are damn glad we're not the babies we used to be. Imagine changing diapers for twenty-odd years...

And you can send me penguin wishes in February, when I'm running around California trying to get tickets to a Sharks game and generally driving everyone between San Francisco and Santa Barbara insane.

I tend to think so. I have friends in the area, and if I can't spend Halloween there (I can't, which is a total suckfest), I can sure as hell make my Bay Area buds celebrate my birthday in style.
