5 years ago tomorrow

Tomorrow marks 5 years since I started "dating" Kevin.

Can't believe 5 years ago we were taking those special steps towards the cinema, to watch Bride of Chucky. Then he came over to my apartment afterwards and I gave him a mug of orange juice (it was either that, water, or milk.) We listened to some Classical Chinese music (because I had just returned from Tsing Tao, where my dad and brother were living at the time) and I lit up some Beewax candles (which Helen gave to me on my birthday.)

I lived in Montreal, on Cote-des Neiges. Very near Concordia University.

I miss Canada. If Kevin doesn't propose soon, would any Canadians be willing to marry me?

(also, happy anniversary to [livejournal.com profile] dilvalicious. 4 years ago, today, she was going on a special date to Fight Club)

it's all about being friends, I think. Because I love Kevin as a best friend, I would never ever want to hurt him... from there grows loyalty, respect, and all the other good stuff.

Unfortuntly gay marragis are not leggal in Ontario i think there was only 10 ppl that could get married and we were going farword with it then they desided to stop it. witch is fucking stupid. I fuckin hate the white homophobs in offic and toronto has such a strong gay community that they could over throw the goverment... *mutters under breath and walks awak kicking a can*

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-10-21 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
maybe you and i could start a riot over there, when I visit next.

[identity profile] dreamwarrior.livejournal.com 2003-10-21 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
it saddnes me i am soooo totaly for same sex marragies i don't know what ppl problems are. I would be happy if they we only in toronto for a start then grow form there...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-10-21 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
people are scared sometimes... they don't want new things, don't want to change. Also, a lot of people want marriage to be "special", only for straight people... they don't want gay people to be happy aswell, i guess.

[identity profile] dreamwarrior.livejournal.com 2003-10-21 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
I think it should be if your in love with the person get married...

If your not in love don't get married...

thats the way it should be... I wanna make a law for that...

I used to live with my sister's Mormon mother-in-law...
We were watching "Ellen" one night (this was back in like 1997) and she shook her head and said something along the lines of, "First something is abhorred, then tolerated, then accepted, then embraced" - In regards to our society's attitude on things like homosexuality and transsexuality. She also said, "Why don't we call them what they really are, what we used to call them? Queers!" I was 15 and even then I knew I would NEVER have her mindset!! It's sad, cuz my brother-in-law's family is really great, but it's very easy, especially in Mormonism, to isolate yourself and live in an ignorant bubble of designated morality.

i agree.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 01:44 am (UTC)(link)

time flew.

I've never been to Vancouver but I hear it's beautiful and also very nice. The weather is very rainy in Vancouver, similar to Seattle. In Montreal, the Winter is severe, the Spring makes everyone go horny like hell, the Summer is hot, breezy and lovely, the Autumn is golden and brown and very soothing.

Can I just repeat that I love Montreal?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
i think it's all down to them not having contact with gay people, not seeing how normal it is. And there's that fear that being straight is not special, not the unique thing.

[identity profile] iifu.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
1) Only in Japan.
2) o_O
3) You're welcome!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
are you japanese?

number 2 was my address in Hong Kong when I lived there... so I guess I know a little of Cantonese. My brother, though, knows Mandarin really well from living in mainland China for 2 years.

[identity profile] iifu.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I'm a whitey born and raised in Europe - making me a (tada!) much sought-after rent-a-priest in Japan. Funny and true.

I don't know any Cantonese ... at all. In fact, I only read and write Literary Chinese (and 'speak' I suppose but that is just hilariously wrong.)

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
what do you mean rent-a-prist??? what religion? is it some weird fad in Japan? did you live there?

[identity profile] iifu.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Christian wedding are the hip thing to do in Japan at the moment. It's all one big fake circus but who cares, everyone's happy and the pay is supposedly quite good.

I haven't been to Japan yet but plan to soon and maybe live there for 1-2 years. Who knows.
