i don't believe the world I live in

This is a very long and fucked up article... but it is very important you read it

I found a link to this article in [livejournal.com profile] throwingstardna

This is what's happening to our world; We need to wake up and put a stop to it.

dude, that is so not fair. :(

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
i'm disturbed by his experience.

[identity profile] dilvalicious.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
the article was too long to read fully, but i did read through a good portion of it...and it sickens me...the poor man.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
i don't understand how the people who did this to him can justify the acts to themselves... they must be monsters.

[identity profile] dilvalicious.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
they are sick, sadistic fucks...did you hear about another case recently, where a woman journalist was beaten to death, and they refused to send her body back to canada, and made the moter in that country sign someething giving permission to have her buried over wherever she was? (I forget the country) anyway...they forced the woman's mother to sign something, and canada was fighting the decision, because her son who lives here wants his mother buried over here...and the person who beat her to death has not even been punished

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
it was in Iran... we heard about it over here... it's very strange how America and Canada are officially against the tyrants in the Middle-East, yet they deliver people to them to be tortured... so Bin Laden is bad bad bad because he kills, but these people are good good good because...???

they don't want change, they don't want real democracy and human rights. The fuckers who did this to the journalist and to this Canadian man represent the people in power in those countries, with political ties to America and Canada.

But I refuse to feel hopeless... there has to be a way we can fight back and bring about change. I'm going to buy some books on the Middle East and start learning about what's going on.

[identity profile] dilvalicious.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the more I read about stuff like this, or hear it, the more I realize how lucky I am to have been born in canada...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
yeah... and to be of Italian descent instead of Syrian.

[identity profile] dilvalicious.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
yup...although the italians weren't so lucky back during WW2...as my dad has told me, some of our relatives were forced by Nazi's to dig their own graves

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
but not in Canada... that's what I meant.

[identity profile] dilvalicious.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, i know...

if I travel with my Brazilian passport, when I reach the airport of a "Developed" country, i'm immediatly taken to a special room for questioning about my reasons for travelling there. It usually doesn't matter that I also have a British passport... so I cannot even imagine the level of abuse that Muslim and middle-eastern travellers are getting.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
it's hard for me to believe that people have said this article was too long to fully read...I can understand skipping the parts where he talks about the torture, but after reading that article I searched for all the related articles and read as many as I could....

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
me too... did you read on the side of that page the questions asked by this journalist to both American and Canadian authorities? Unbelievable.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
I know...I love that the rcmp is possibly going to be charged for this..for ignoring and possibly helping the people invloved in this

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
that's great... i'm going to try to read the CBC website more often and find out what's going on over there.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
it's a pretty good site. I like CBC they have pretty good reporting. The are definatly better then cnn or something like that

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
definetly better than Fox News!

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
ha ha holy shit...does anyone watch fox news seriously? well what am I saying I am sure tons of people do! sick!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
all those "good" people, with crucifixes hanging around their necks, who want to follow Jesus' example, yet would have no qualms about sending gays, blacks, feminists to hell.

but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
I know..or have no problem ignoring what else is going on in the world...

I watched a really interesting thing about Mary Magdalin, and that she may be jesus' wife

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
did you know as well that in the original version of the bible, Mary is described as a young woman -- but when they translated it they used "virgin"... and the error just stuck! So she wasn't even a virgin...

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
really! that is so interesting! well these script about mary magdalin, were almost destroyed by the church, there were even refernces to her as an apostile! and women used to perform functions of priests such as baptisms

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
those fucking patriarchs!!!

i say give the power to the women. Men don't know shit.

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
holy shit, I am apparently not awake yet, my spelling so so bad it makes me want to cry!! lol

anyway that's what I get for typing while I am working! lol

and you are right, men dont' knwo shit, but I think we should have an equal balance, I think the church has more then proven that celebacy for priests doesn't work...there are some instincts that you just can't repress for ever...no matter how close to god you are

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
exactly! It's wrong to go against what's natural and good. Sexuality is not bad, doesn't hurt anyone if it's consensual... so why should they care? Now those priests go celibate for years, begin to go crazy and start fondling little altar boys.

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
I agree totally, like I said their experiement didn't work, I mean when you think about it a lot of other religions allow their priests to marry, and they haven't had any less followers, they haven't had any less devotion to god

I like traditions but I hate this way of old thinking and that you can never change it...I think after all of this that the church has to do some major changing....

Re: but it says so in the bible!!!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-06 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
either change or die...
