Attack of the 80s maniac

I'm compiling a list of movies that are So Bad They Must Be Good.

I already have a few which I haven't seen and think will fit this category nicely. Examples of "so bad it's good":

- They Live
- Dirty Dancing
- Triple X (we saw it on friday -- holy shitty hilarious movie!)
- Showgirls
- Basic Instinct

And here's a list of rotten ones which I haven't seen, but am guessing they are brilliant stinkers:

- Swept Away, with Madonna (any movie with Madonna?)
- Glitter, with Mariah Carey
- The Postman, with Kevin Costner
- Too Fast Too Furious

erm... can you give me some ideas?

Earth Girls Are Easy, maybe? I love that film.

*gasp of utter amazement*

That was the movie I was going to say!!

And The Wizard of Speed and Time. I love both of them. And listen, buddy, Dirty Dancing is quality entertainment!

oh, i love Dirty Dancing! In fact, I want to throw a Dirty Dancing party one day, with everyone playing characters from the movie (my friends and I did that once, with "Annie" - I was the mystical driver character with the turbant *forgot his name*)

But you must agree that it's bad! But good-bad!

with that actress from Thelma and Louise?

[identity profile] tikarass.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
um, I didn't see Thelma and Louise. Jim Carey is in it, he's some bright colored furry alien.

Honest (the All Saints film) was one of the funniest things I have ever seen!

never heard of that! any cameos by the Gallagher brothers?

[identity profile] jellyfishfur.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Spice World
Can't Buy Me Love
Crybaby
Zapped Again!
(honestly, this movie used to be on USA - the TV station a lot, you HAVE to see it)
Glitter - not so bad it's good - just painful to watch.
I haven't seen the Madonna Swept Away, but I saw the original - it was an interesting movie.

[identity profile] jellyfishfur.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
oh! 2 more!
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead
My Stepmother's an Alien

=)

Crybaby... John Waters movies rule! I love Pecker and I almost puked at the last scene of Pink Flamingoes...

Never heard of Zapped Again! but I'll search for it. :]

[identity profile] shell-shock.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
how about Army Of Darkness? or Zapped! you can never go wrong with scott baio.

and oh my goodness, i LOVE They Live. that line where he talks about chewing bubblegum and kicking some ass has to be one of the best one-liners ever!

[identity profile] shell-shock.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
ah, i forgot to mention Duel (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067023/)! and The Gumball Rally (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0074597/)!

i have seen way too many cheesy movies in my lifetime!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 01:46 am (UTC)(link)

Gigli with Ben Affleck and J. LO its supposedly so bad I have to see it.

PS The Postman was decent

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
I heard that there's a really bad dialogue in Gigli, about Ben giving Jen some head...

[identity profile] stinkacon.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Revenge of the Nerds...

I'm actually watching it right now. I went to a friends house yesterday and they were giving away a ton of VHS tapes, this was one that I snagged.

Point Break with Keanu and Patrick Swayze was a good/bad movie, but it was made in 1991...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I love Point Break! With the Chilli Peppers cameo...

Revenge of the Nerds is a good tip. I loved that movie as a kid, but haven't seen it in ages.

Dirty Dancing's the best! The Breakfast Club is probably the best, most cheesy 80's movie I've seen.

[identity profile] peraventure.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
a pox on you! Breakfast Club isn't cheesy, it's gospel!!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
those are classics.

[identity profile] sexyjillian.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)

Speaking of John Waters and his girl Ricki, check out Sugar Baby. Her other Waters flicks rule.

Hello, how can we forget Howard the Duck?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Howard the Duck?!?! I think that just stank, period!

:o)
