Viva Le Salt!!

Eating salty foods is not bad for you! You just have to eat it in moderation. A little bit won't kill you. Or almost all of you...

Don't be a prune and cut out of your life all the good things. Take a look at California. They don't eat bread, pasta or potatoes anymore over there, thanks to the Atkins diet. Do you want to look like a Jennifer Aniston stick-figure, with a balloon head?

I didn't think so.

Moderation baby, that's the key. And that's why I'm never going to stop eating bread & butter.

amen!

Atkins.... *seethes*

[identity profile] ladieslovejesus.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
I've always heard that this atkins diet was dangerous. always. and now for some secret fashion revival it's hype again. fuck that.

oh and I love salted tastes. I add too much salt on my food, even without tasting it first. I know it's a bad habit but well.. I don't take drugs so..

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
I know this. but sometimes people just need to put it down. whatever was in their hand they just need to not put it in their mouth. I hve to practice that way more then I am

Do what you love in this life... but do it smartly.

People always say you shouldn't knock something until you try it, so I tried the Atkins diet, and lasted precisely two days before binging on terrible things like tomatoes!! More pasta for me, please!

choir call

[identity profile] idioticpoet.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
HELLS YEA!
PREACH THAT SHIT BROTHER!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly... the problem isn't so much what you are eating, but how much of it.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Have you been to Italy? I've never seen so many beautiful people in my life when I was there in 1998 - and pasta is in their blood stream!

Re: choir call

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
SPREAD THE WORD BRO!

[identity profile] ladieslovejesus.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
diets suck anyway. as you said we can eat anything. Pasta is what athletes eat its good it gives lots of energy ditto with bread. and it's yummy! of course if you add lots of cheese and meat and stuff.. but yumyumyum it's better than a stupid hamburger!

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
yes! I hate all this low carb shit. People need to realize that not eating any kind of carbs or sugars is going to kill you.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Though Hamburgers are yummy sometimes too.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. People need to learn how to mix and match complex carbohydrates (from rice, breads, pasta) and proteins. Cutting one of these from your life is a big mistake.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
plus if that's what they want to do, then they should actually read the book rather then just stop eating carbs and think magically they are going to be slim and healthy. I want to enjoy my food, not eat shit because it's going to make me skinny or something

America's dirty little secret

[identity profile] myendeavorca.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
We are addicts...

On average we consume around 90lbs. (that's how much I weighed at 14!) of sugar, EACH, per year.

http://www.cspinet.org/new/sugar_limit.html

Refined sugar will kill you...no doubt about it. We are crackheads.

[identity profile] shell-shock.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
i'm european, and i sure love my bread. in poland, we ate bread several times a day, and the women (and a lot of men) were still toothpicks! since many fast food restaurants opened there since the mid 90's, i noticed that a lot more children are getting fatter.

[identity profile] jellyfish93.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, not all of California is on the bandwagon...!

0+--< (my balloon head stick figure)

[identity profile] alaric3.livejournal.com 2004-05-12 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
i eat so much saltiness. SALT THE WORLD. so i may eat it.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
And also speak to someone who is a doctor and can help them out.

Re: America's dirty little secret

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
I've been slowly cutting sugar out of my life. IT's difficult.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
The food in itself is not the problem - there's also a decrease in activity and exercise, which helps people put on weight.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Are you a vegetarian?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'll follow you.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
yes! I would say hear hear, but there is always a debate on what the spelling is. so I will refrain especially with my spelling errors as of late

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
you know you don't have to worry about spelling with me.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
ha ha but it's still lame

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Phff... i don't care.

;)

[identity profile] jellyfish93.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
No. I go veg for a month here and there, but I haven't committed myself long term (yet?).
Are you?

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
I know you don't!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
nah. i was for a year and a half... but i couldn't do it. I was brought up on meat and I love it.

[identity profile] jellyfish93.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm not that attached to meat, but I had no idea what to eat when I was veg - I don't know how to cook vegetables so that they taste good, and cheese doesn't seem all that healthy to live off of...I could only do pita & hummus for so long!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
being vegetarian isn't so hard - there are tons of veggie burgers, etc. - but I just miss meat.

Hahaha! Tell me about it! *munches brown sugar and cinnamon pop tart*

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-13 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Caipirinhas are my fav drink... and brown sugar goes into them.
