Eating salty foods is not bad for you! You just have to eat it in moderation. A little bit won't kill you. Or almost all of you...

Don't be a prune and cut out of your life all the good things. Take a look at California. They don't eat bread, pasta or potatoes anymore over there, thanks to the Atkins diet. Do you want to look like a Jennifer Aniston stick-figure, with a balloon head?

I didn't think so.

Moderation baby, that's the key. And that's why I'm never going to stop eating bread & butter.

I've always heard that this atkins diet was dangerous. always. and now for some secret fashion revival it's hype again. fuck that.

oh and I love salted tastes. I add too much salt on my food, even without tasting it first. I know it's a bad habit but well.. I don't take drugs so..

diets suck anyway. as you said we can eat anything. Pasta is what athletes eat its good it gives lots of energy ditto with bread. and it's yummy! of course if you add lots of cheese and meat and stuff.. but yumyumyum it's better than a stupid hamburger!

Though Hamburgers are yummy sometimes too.

I know this. but sometimes people just need to put it down. whatever was in their hand they just need to not put it in their mouth. I hve to practice that way more then I am

Exactly... the problem isn't so much what you are eating, but how much of it.

yes! I hate all this low carb shit. People need to realize that not eating any kind of carbs or sugars is going to kill you.

on 2004-05-12 07:52 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
Exactly. People need to learn how to mix and match complex carbohydrates (from rice, breads, pasta) and proteins. Cutting one of these from your life is a big mistake.

plus if that's what they want to do, then they should actually read the book rather then just stop eating carbs and think magically they are going to be slim and healthy. I want to enjoy my food, not eat shit because it's going to make me skinny or something

yes! I would say hear hear, but there is always a debate on what the spelling is. so I will refrain especially with my spelling errors as of late

People always say you shouldn't knock something until you try it, so I tried the Atkins diet, and lasted precisely two days before binging on terrible things like tomatoes!! More pasta for me, please!

Have you been to Italy? I've never seen so many beautiful people in my life when I was there in 1998 - and pasta is in their blood stream!

We are addicts...

On average we consume around 90lbs. (that's how much I weighed at 14!) of sugar, EACH, per year.

http://www.cspinet.org/new/sugar_limit.html

Refined sugar will kill you...no doubt about it. We are crackheads.

i'm european, and i sure love my bread. in poland, we ate bread several times a day, and the women (and a lot of men) were still toothpicks! since many fast food restaurants opened there since the mid 90's, i noticed that a lot more children are getting fatter.

The food in itself is not the problem - there's also a decrease in activity and exercise, which helps people put on weight.

No. I go veg for a month here and there, but I haven't committed myself long term (yet?).
Are you?

nah. i was for a year and a half... but i couldn't do it. I was brought up on meat and I love it.

Yeah, I'm not that attached to meat, but I had no idea what to eat when I was veg - I don't know how to cook vegetables so that they taste good, and cheese doesn't seem all that healthy to live off of...I could only do pita & hummus for so long!

being vegetarian isn't so hard - there are tons of veggie burgers, etc. - but I just miss meat.
