Sumbunctious Sunday

Saturday morning we went to Argos and bought the following:

* A Big Mothafucka TV so we can watch Big Brother 5 documentaries and other critically acclaimed television.
* A power-surge protector that allows up to 4 electrical equipment to be plugged into the wall
* A new shower hosey thing because the old was torn - unfortunately, the new one is too short and we now need to buy the damn thing again.

Then I played some videogames with Kevin and went to a lovely dinner b-day party. Unfortunately, I had to miss another one (Dawn, I hope you got my txt!) and now I'm sad because discussion about The Smiths took place in said missed party and everyone knows I'm the greatest expert on The Smiths in the world.

See you at the Pub Quiz then?

Big Brother Rules! Hahaha I've seen all the editions here in Spain, next will be the 6!
It's cool to know you're an expert on The Smiths, really don't know any other experts on them, so whenever I have a question about them, it will go straight to you ;)

Ask away... don't be shy. As you know, shyness is nice but shyness can stop you from gaining all the knowledge of The Smiths that you want to.

That quote was the motto of one ex of mine (fading memories)
Ok, I'll keep the always-subject alive:
Is Morrissey gay?
And
What do u think of bigmouth's version by Placebo?
*L*

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Placebo suck big time

and Morrissey is *SHOCK* not gay!!!

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Don't SHOCK! There's a lot of people around thinking he's gay! With all that asexual thing and stuff.
I rather not say anything about your Placebo comment... ((deep breath))
Guess that Placebo opinion comes in revenge from the morrissey-gay comment! *L*

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
lol... no, i guess i don't mind the first Placebo album... but I just find that their later stuff is not very strong. Also, the singer's voice reminds me of that Canadian band Rush.

As for Morrissey, I've been a big fan for a decade now... and I've begun to realize that he really doesn't like sex and he is beyond gay or straight.

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I always thought he was asexual, I mean he used to say he didn't liked sex.
What is he doing now?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-06-01 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
He has a new album, called "You Are the Quarry". I like it.

Have you heard the cover of Boy With The Thorn In His Side by the singer from Dinosaur Jr.? It's really good! It was the second thing that helped me get into Moz, first was Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself.

who is Bis? That'd be neat to get a copy of. I'd like to do a mix with Smiths/Moz covers. Not that this hasn't already been done, I just want it only with songs I personally like.

The most amazing Smiths cover I've ever heard is Mojo Nixon doing "Girlfriend in a Coma" - probably the only Smiths cover I've heard which I'd say I listen to more than the original.

I have to get crackin' and get these covers! Not sure where, though, kazaa sucks now and I can't buy them online yet. Soon...soon...

Billy Bragg's Never Had No One Ever cover is brilliant, too.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Billy Bragg also covered Jeane, which is quite beautiful.

the covers project (http://www.coversproject.com) is a great resource. I don't know if that one's on there. didn't look.

Never heard of that one either! We are getting broadband in August and I'm hoping to start downloading some music then... I'll try to find it.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Bis were an indie band from the 90s... they have broken up I think.

[identity profile] peraventure.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
ah, gotcha. thanks for the info!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... I never knew of that version of "Boy..." Maybe, in a future mix exchange??

[identity profile] peraventure.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
As long as I can get ahold of it I'd love to send it to you. At this point I only have it on audio tape. And no way to get it to CD. *sigh*

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-06-01 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
no problem then.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
ooh shopping! I went shopping and left the mall with nothing, i was proud of myself. That's unusual.

Now people are at my house I am fucking in shock I am not puking my guts out, and my dad is in one of his show off moods, and that means my room is next and it's a bloody disaster

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
haha... did you go to Canadian Tires? That's my fav shop in the world... I can spend a whole day in there.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
no I didn't go there! It's a fun place to go.

[identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com 2004-05-31 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
just at the mall, I went into lots of stores and saw things that I liked, but I just walked away.
