Postcard to the Edge

A postcard arrived for me this morning. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] moonlightjoy! All those little images of Montreal on the postcard... I know them well. I lived in the Plateau for two years and, even after I moved to Sherbrooke road downtown (near the Museum of Fine Arts), I would still go visit friends there or spend the weekends at the Copacabana bar, or the mountain.

Everytime I'm reminded of Montreal - by postcards, images on TV or conversationi - it makes me want to go back. My original plan for coming to England was to build work experience here so I could eventually immigrate to Canada. I sometimes feel as if I haven't been focused enough on this plan and I've left myself drift away. The years go by and I'm still in London. Where will I end up?

Josie, if you are still in Montreal when I move back then we must go to the village together. We must go dancing at Unity or Sky or whatever is the newest gay club in town. Or we can just go for beers on St-Laurent or coffee and cake on St-Denis. I'll be happy with anything you suggest. Thank you again.

Enjoy London while you are there, once you leave you will miss it and your London friends too :)

That's true too... I'll enjoy each day as if it's the last *melodramatic voice*

I know what you mean, the years pass by and nothing gets done

It's all perspective, isn't it? I know if I went back things just wouldn't be the same - my friends have moved elsewhere, I'd have to get a job instead of live like a student. And I'd probably miss London. Still, I do love Montreal (and Canada) and I'd love to end my days there... hopefully with you nearby! :)

You're welcome!! I wish I could find better postcards.. Maybe you'll be getting more in the future ;-).

How long have you been living in London? And why did you move to England in the first place?

I came to England with Kevin on the 18th of September, 2001. Basically, it was the only way we could live together - he has an Irish passport and I have a British one. At the time, Canada didn't have any of that same-sex legalities, so we figured we'd live here for a few years, build work experience, and eventually I'd immigrate to Canada. Now it looks like we may be able to move back and get married (thus allowing me to stay.) That's why, a long time ago, I asked you about gay marriages in Quebec.
