Years before Cinderella had evil stepsisters, in a time when she wouldn't dare to dream of wearing glass slippers and dancing with Prince Charming, the Little Pierogi (as she was affectionally known in the neighbourhood) lived with her family in sunny Florida.
Times were hard and all the peasant children had to work in order to help their families. It was no different for Little Pierogi. In the mornings, she would fetch her donkey from the green fields behind her cottage and make the long trek to Taco's Bell (this was before it became a a fast food giant - in those forlorn years, Taco Bell was a grubby pub run by a fat Mexican man called Mr. Taco.) Our soon-to-be-princess would spend her days washing dishes and serving chicken wraps to disgruntled travellers.
One day, a glittering carriage rode by Little Pierogi and her donkey as they made their way to work. The carriage splattered Little Pierogi and her donkey with mud as it rushed down the dirt road. Seeing his mistress' tears, the donkey dashed after the carriage and headbutted it, leaving a dent on its back. An outraged woman screamed from inside the carriage:
"I'll see you in court, you little bitch! That carriage cost me a fortune! You'll have to pay me 800 gold coins to get it fixed."
What a mess our Little Pierogi found herself in! She had to work extra hard at Mr. Taco's Bell, sometimes all through the night. Soon, she had earned the 800 gold coins. She sent a note to the rich lady to come fetch it at her work place. Hours later, the rich lady appeared, her nose firmly stuck up as she peered down at all those dirty commoners.
"Where's my money?" the lady asked, extending a plump hand.
"Yo. So not fair!" Little Pierogi cried, dropping a bag onto her hands.
"And give me a chicken wrap, while you're at it," the rich lady ordered.
Little Pierogi went to the back of the pub and made a chicken wrap for the lady. While she carefully placed the chicken and beans inside it, bile began to rise in her throat - dark like the anger she felt for that evil woman. Unable to stop herself, she hocked a black, sludgy piece of loogie into the wrap.
She went back to the counter and handed the wrap to the lady. As the lady chewed on the wrap, a grin of satisfaction came across her face.
