Don't wanna waste my life, Don't wanna waste my time

The heat has brought out all the tourists. The tube was packed on my way home with Americans, Germans, Israelis, Spanish-speaking folks. Sweat was pouring down everyone's face. I stopped at Paddington station to get some food at Sainsbury's. It looked like a mass exodus was in place: suitcases everywhere, teenagers sitting on the floors with their bored cigarettes, passengers looking expectantly at the train information; long line-ups to withdraw money, to buy food, to enter the trains. I'm so glad I'm not travelling during this bank holiday weekend.

I had to get out of my sticky clothes and take a shower. I've got all the windows open and [livejournal.com profile] 4q's For England mix on the stereo. I'm sitting in shorts with no t-shirt on. It's fucking beautiful outside - a pale blue sky with no clouds, children playing, people standing outside pubs with their red faces and their large pints of ale. The city is going to move tonight to the sound of drunks getting laid, travellers ready for good times, dancers dripping on the dancefloors. The canal outside our building is still like a lake. As I was walking from Paddington station home, I could smell the rotting leaves in the water, the carcasses of fish and birds brewing a typical London stew.

If this heatwave persists through the weekend, I can only guess what earthquake will bring London down.

NO I DON'T! Where exactly is that? It's now my mission to find them, take a picture, and post it here.

Heh heh! Head westwards. It's before you get to Westbourne Green, I think (definitely before you reach Sainsburys). On the other side of the canal, in a group of houses which actually back directly onto the canal (i.e. if the water level were to rise, it would come in through their windows).

If you don't spot it then I'll take a picture the next time I'm along that way...

Oh ok... I think I know where to look. I haven't walked that way in ages but now, with this gorgeous weather, I'll take a trip down there and look out for it.
