The heat has brought out all the tourists. The tube was packed on my way home with Americans, Germans, Israelis, Spanish-speaking folks. Sweat was pouring down everyone's face. I stopped at Paddington station to get some food at Sainsbury's. It looked like a mass exodus was in place: suitcases everywhere, teenagers sitting on the floors with their bored cigarettes, passengers looking expectantly at the train information; long line-ups to withdraw money, to buy food, to enter the trains. I'm so glad I'm not travelling during this bank holiday weekend.

I had to get out of my sticky clothes and take a shower. I've got all the windows open and [livejournal.com profile] 4q's For England mix on the stereo. I'm sitting in shorts with no t-shirt on. It's fucking beautiful outside - a pale blue sky with no clouds, children playing, people standing outside pubs with their red faces and their large pints of ale. The city is going to move tonight to the sound of drunks getting laid, travellers ready for good times, dancers dripping on the dancefloors. The canal outside our building is still like a lake. As I was walking from Paddington station home, I could smell the rotting leaves in the water, the carcasses of fish and birds brewing a typical London stew.

If this heatwave persists through the weekend, I can only guess what earthquake will bring London down.

No, I stayed in the office answering emails during my lunch break. But I'll look for it next week.

I'm so nostalgic for London now. I miss it so much. I'll get to see it for a few days before I go to Italy though I guess - I need to leave from one of the London airports because there are no direct flights from Glasgow.

By the way, I've got tickets for Sleater Kinney when they play London in September! I've never seen them live...

It's a freak heatwave. Today is already cooler, but yesterday we were getting 30celsius (I don't know what that is in Farenheit.)

The canal outside our building is still like a lake. As I was walking from Paddington station...

Aha, I'll have to post my canal pictures soon! Do you live on the "Paddington Basin" part, or on the main waterway? Hmmm, anywhere near that peculiar maisonette with Jesus in the window? Or the infamous shopping trolley? Sorry, I digress...

The city is going to move tonight to the sound of drunks getting laid...

Sadly not true. Not ever true...

I live just by Little Venice, just as the Paddington Basin merges with the waterway. Do you walk the canal?

I vary my Sunday walks between the Grand Union Canal, the Thames, and places like Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common. The canal walk starts where it crosses Wood Lane, and ends at York Way (King's Cross). Unless it's pouring with rain, in which case it diverts down the Paddington branch and into the pub.

You must live about half a mile along from those weird people who have Jesus in their bathroom window, and as you walk past it looks like he's sitting on the toilet. Do you know the one I mean?

NO I DON'T! Where exactly is that? It's now my mission to find them, take a picture, and post it here.

Heh heh! Head westwards. It's before you get to Westbourne Green, I think (definitely before you reach Sainsburys). On the other side of the canal, in a group of houses which actually back directly onto the canal (i.e. if the water level were to rise, it would come in through their windows).

If you don't spot it then I'll take a picture the next time I'm along that way...

Oh ok... I think I know where to look. I haven't walked that way in ages but now, with this gorgeous weather, I'll take a trip down there and look out for it.

oh, please don't mention getting laid! I've had sex dreams the past two nights and got all steamed up over a strangely sexy short guy with a big gut.

By the way... Kevin and I went by the apartments! We took photos soon, which I shall be uploading soon.

:)

The place looks alright, definetly well placed. There's a supermarket nearby which would be great for you if you have access to a kitchen, etc. One thing though, the place was called "Oxbridge" instead of "Oxford"... maybe you got it wrong? It's very close to a Tube too, which will be convenient for you. Do you know which floor you will be on? There was a basement area that looked dingy, but I'm assuming that is for staff and they wouldn't give it to guests.
