If there is at least one person in your life whom you consider a close friend, and whom you would not have met without the internet, post this sentence in your journal.

---

And I'll add that some I've already met in person, and some I'm still dying to meet, but all are people that I hope to have close to me for the rest of my life (or for as long as possible.) When I started Livejournal, the intention was to keep in touch with friends back in Brasil. I never thought I would meet so many people from across the globe, and eventually meet them in person and learn so much about (and from) them. I never knew this journal would last.

Not going out anymore tonight. Feeling too tired and dispirited after getting home. Bottles of rose wine have been drunk, sober music is playing on the stereo, and now I think I'm going to watch a movie.

Hope you have a great weekend.

I've met a lot of incredible people who've become really good friends of mine through the internet. I think given how it's used so prevalently these days, that statement should no longer carry the same stigma it used to, conjuring up images of terrifying nerd-ogres sat in front of PCs pretending to be 16 year old girls on cybersex IRC channels. ;) Most people I know have enriched their real life social circles with the internet, in some way, to be honest...

FWIW, you're one person I'm REALLY, really glad to have met. I think you're ace.

I think you are ace too... *Group Hug* :-P

By the way, I was talking to people in my creative writing group today and two of them saw Wolf Creek. They said that they were deeply disturbed and that there were moments (unusual for them) when they had to cover their eyes because it was so horrendous! Now I'm scared of watching this movie!!!!

Random question...if the intention was to keep in touch with friends back in Brasil how come it's written in English? Cause they speak Portuguese [sp?] in Brasil, right? Or did you grow up somewhere else and English is your first language?

Good question! We all met each other in a school dedicated to teaching English to non-speakers so, because my friend [livejournal.com profile] roguejournal was already here, we decided we'd try to write in English - for the benefit of any random stranger that came across the journal, as well as practice for ourselves. It didn't work at first (if you have a look at the first couple of posts in my journal, they are all in Portuguese), but then I stole the journal and decided I'd write only in English.
