And I'll add that some I've already met in person, and some I'm still dying to meet, but all are people that I hope to have close to me for the rest of my life (or for as long as possible.) When I started Livejournal, the intention was to keep in touch with friends back in Brasil. I never thought I would meet so many people from across the globe, and eventually meet them in person and learn so much about (and from) them. I never knew this journal would last.

Not going out anymore tonight. Feeling too tired and dispirited after getting home. Bottles of rose wine have been drunk, sober music is playing on the stereo, and now I think I'm going to watch a movie.

Good question! We all met each other in a school dedicated to teaching English to non-speakers so, because my friend roguejournal was already here, we decided we'd try to write in English - for the benefit of any random stranger that came across the journal, as well as practice for ourselves. It didn't work at first (if you have a look at the first couple of posts in my journal, they are all in Portuguese), but then I stole the journal and decided I'd write only in English.
