The Evil Rave in my Head

For the past month I've been hearing this weird pulse in my head, close to my right ear. I thought at first that I was finally able to hear my heartbeat without relying on my fingers. Then I got concerned when it appeared to be so irregular: I thought I was on the verge of an aneurism.

I went to see the NT's nurse on my lunch break and she said I probably have tinnitus. I've made an appointment to see my GP Monday morning.

I've gone through the list of potential causes for this but I can't explain its appearance. I'm thinking it could be related to the swimming pool, or maybe because I swallow Nurofen like candy. I'm hoping -- everyone cross your fingers and paws for me -- that it's only earwax buildup. I don't even want to think of hearing loss (which I already have because of being a stupid teenager that listened a lot to his walkman).

I'm no longer in the mood for going to Lady Luck Club tonight.

awww. I hope you are alright! I have a lot ringing in my ears, but I have never bothered to get in investigated. I figure it's because I have that fuzzy phone noise in my head all day from my work headset.

Swimming pools can be bad for ear problems - chlorine doesn't kill everything - and getting water in your ear alot isn't good.

Cutting back on your ibuprofen intake might be a good idea too - just 'cos
:)

I already have hearing loss from too much walkman use and gig attendage ( must get myself a decent pair of earplugs before the next lot start again) and after the Chiefs gigs in October my ears were majorly ringing.

Hey, fingers all crossed for you.

FWIW, I've given myself hearing loss over the years with stupid amounts of loud gigs and headphone music as a kid... It's only recently that people having been pointing out just how bad it's getting. Lots of sounds that others in the room have no problem hearing I just can't hear and I can't make out direction of sound that well sometimes any more. :(

Hopefully you've just got an earwax build-up. But you should try to lay off the Nurofen anyway!!
