Technically the scenes aren't edited but digitally altered. Since Kubrick had final cut on all his pictures by contract the studio couldn't cut out any scenes. However he died days after completeing the editing of the film and supposedly leaving those images intact would give it an N -17 rating and the contract for the film required it to be rated R in America. So the studio and the Kubrick estate decided to put digital images of people (some naked women) infront of the hardcore action. So they can't release and uncut version in America beeacause the film wasn't cut by the studio at all.
The silliest thing about the whole situation is that they ended up just digitally smudging the print of a cinematic master just to give a film which couldn't be more mature in thematic content another adult rating.
