Close... Yet so Far Away

I tried out TrustFlow II for LiveJournal. The following people not on the friends list for [livejournal.com profile] commonpeople are close by:

TrustFlow II: Who is closest to your friends list?

So basically (as I found with mine) the people nearest the top are *usually* people one has had a bust-up of some description with ;-)

Hm. I tried, and the person at the top is someone I've never heard of, with whom I have precisely one friend in common...

Other than that, there's only one person I've had an actual bust-up with, and they're not right at the top of the list.

I even have an ex right near the top of mine! With the exception of a few people like Deathboy, nearly all of the people in the top ten are people who used to be on my friends list, and either defriended me in a cull (not really a bust-up) or there was a major bust-up involved! Drama :-)

I've never had any problem with the person right at the top of mine. Some of the others are recent bust ups, or people who I deleted because we realized we had nothing in common.

However, there are more cases of people who could be potential friends (in some case, people who I've already met in real life.)

Aye, there's quite a few people in there who wouldn't seem out of place if they were on my friends list - often they're just not on there because we've never got around to it! :-)

Yup, mine certainly were. I bet you 10p you can guess who numbers one and two on mine were!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
One of them looks like a painting you saw in Amsterdam and the other has a journal you like to read but can't due to having being defriended.

Did I get it right? :-)

You got the second wrong (because I haven't defriended that person). The second is someone to whom I don't speak any more after an incident involving curry. And I don't mean Planky.

[identity profile] sparklielizard.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ditto! ;-) And what's the betting that at least one of them is the same one?

I'm sure of it, and if you removed the other from your friends list, I bet she'd be right up there too!

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
i love this :D

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Fits in well with our experiment yesterday.

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
yes, by now i am only added back by 5...
what about you?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
4. But that's normal: many of those journals are no longer alive, the owners don't speak english or have no interest in adding me back. To be honest, I wouldn't suddenly want so many LJ Friends! It will be nice to gain just a few ones from this experiment.

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
yeah
I have a new experiment game for next time I am bored :D

I will click on all my interests one by one and add always the first person on the list, this way we will have things in common at least :D

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's a great idea!

[identity profile] desayuno-ingles.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand this. Do they mean close as in related by common friends or what? I'll try it anyway, just cos I wonder what it is.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't make any sense. I've checked some of the people at the top and they only have one friend in common with me, whereas people at the bottom have more.

[identity profile] desayuno-ingles.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I've realized that the second person on the list is friends with someone who only has three people total on their friend's list.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
We need an IT wiz to figure this out for us.

[identity profile] desayuno-ingles.livejournal.com 2006-03-29 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
or just shake our heads and move on. *grin*
