Semi-Twee End of Easter Holiday Post

Where did the four-day weekend go? Last day -- today -- is up against the wall.

Kevin & I had the apartment to ourselves. I pressure-cooked black beans last night to the sound of ABBA Gold. It put me in a panicky need for Muriel's Wedding (which we sadly don't own on DVD). I chopped pork sausages and boiled them with the beans. I fried onions with rice. I bought a 2-litre bottle of Coke and it's almost gone (the bottle of Vodka which had been forgotten on top of the fridge has also been terminated.)

Sometimes I do LJ, sometimes I read Connelly's The Black Ice, sometimes I play Gamecube (my Animal Crossing town is about to cross the planet and land in California, thus it needed tending), sometimes I watch DVDs we rented from the library, sometimes I freewrite in my notebook because I'm inspired by Natalie Goldberg's Writing Down the Bones. The only thing missing this holiday was a drawn out bath.

Yesterday, I went downtown in the hopes of buying all the remaining items needed for my brasilian expedition. Almost all the shops were closed yet Oxford Street had a steady stream of people walking up and down it. I think people just needed to get out for exercise. I walked past [livejournal.com profile] delomelas and [livejournal.com profile] chobiraptor on the Bakerloo Tube platform; I was too shy to stop and say hello.

I love reading old short stories of mine, forgotten inside a diskette or a cupboard, and realizing that those phrases came out of my head. I want to convince Kevin that it's a good idea to leave the apartment today and walk to Regent's Park. I might have to bribe him with chocolate.

SOunds like a lovely weekend! The roommates, the ex-roommate, GR's boyfriend and I all went to the park yesterday and horsed around, throwing a tennis ball back & forth. my feet are still dirty cos I ran around in the grass barefoot and forgot to wash them last night.

When I come back from Brasil, I expect the weather here to be nice enough for fun and frolicking at the park too.
