Deixa Que Eu Seje o Céu

There won't be any parks or sunbathing for us today, despite the sun still hanging in the sky with a big crayon smile. We spent the morning tidying the apartment and airing the rooms. If I hadn't woken up with a bad back, I'd be tackling the bathrooms right now. I suppose that can wait.

At lunch time, I invited Kevin for a walk beside the canal, all the way to Sainsbury's. Once again, hardly anyone around -- very unusual for such a lovely weekend. My guess, as usual, is that World Cup games are keeping people indoors. We walked past a few drunk men, sitting on the benches facing the water, stewing in their old jackets. Closer to Sainsbury's, a few people sat under a tree's shade, fishing. It must have been purely for sport since I can't imagine anyone wanting to eat a fish from such a dirty source of water.

Kevin is now in the kitchen, preparing veggie burgers and oven fries. I've got Marisa Monte on the stereo, the windows wide open, and a large bottle of chilled water beside me. Oh, and I've barely worn a t-shirt in the last 24 hours. After doing LJ, I might go read Grande Sertão: Veredas, play Gamecube, or lie on the bed and just listen to music.

I love this weather!

The weather here is beautiful too, and I am enjoying it. We didn't get to the beach this weekend but we're definitely going next weekend because Alan has a chess match by the sea, so I am going to tag along and hang out at the beach with books. :D Can't wait!

Tell Alan he has to play his chess match with sea water up to his waste.

I love this weather!

Ha ha, it was bloody murderous weather to go running in earlier today! Hmmm, mad dogs and Englishmen...

It's alright if you go very early, when the air is slightly fresh. ;-)

or lie on the bed and just listen to music.

I love doing that! I'm going to make sure I do that tomorrow, mid-morning. ♥

I'll be at work by the time, wishing I could be doing the same.

Don't you want to share? It was 35 degres C here today. We could trade?

Dude! Send it our way. I'd be more than happy to take some of that heat from you. ;-)

Same here. I was going to ask on your post how you got your sunstroke, but I'm guessing you probably did the same as me (i.e. found a place to lie down in the sun asap). Hope you are feeling better. :-)

I love your weekends. You and Kevin sound like you'd be fun people to vacation with. Just spend time strolling, reading, eating good food, and peoplewatching...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that the kind of vacation that you and your boyfriend take?

(Anonymous) 2006-06-13 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I tend to enjoy low-key vacations with large amounts of unscheduled free time spent strolling, grabbing a beer/cocktail somewhere and general meandering. Dave tends to like more planned activities. He's more of a "vacations-are-for-adventure" type, and I'm more of a "vacations-are-for-relaxation" type. So we compromise.

How about you? What do you do on holiday?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I fall somewhere between you and Dave. I love to relax during my holidays, but I also don't mind a bit of activity. Too much relaxing can leave me restless, and too much partying can leave me exhausted.
