Brutal Force

Fuerzabruta
Fuerzabruta

Everyone who lives in London must see Fuerzabruta at the Roundhouse. This is the best show the city will see all year without a shadow of a doubt. If you are going, my tip is that you don't read any reviews (apart from mine) so that nothing gets spoiled for you. Also, try to stand in the middle, and wear hard shoes because people might step on your toes.

The show was only 55 minutes long but, in that time, I felt as if I'd been put through an intense hallucinogenic experience, where all my chakras were open, my body splattered, my mood pushed to the point where I wanted to go out dancing as soon as the exit doors were flung open. I went with Kevin and four co-workers. We got separated and witnessed different reactions from the public. I looked in awe at all the company's members and the amazing life they lead -- because, surely, one must be the happiest human being on this planet just for being part of such a creative group.

I found the show spoke directly to my age group, in the sense that it brought into focus the kind of euphoria that we have wanted for our lives -- the kind of rush we have tried to find through drugs, sports and so forth. There were certain images created -- "situations" -- which were a perfect synergy of music, light, texture and the audience's participation. I was led into a kind of happiness I wasn't aware I ould reach without the aid of power yoga classes, ecstasy tablets or a heavenly-scented bath.

The group comes from Argentina, which makes sense to me since their energy is so similar to what thrives in certain parts of Brasil. The memories of last night's show stayed with me and will make me smile for years to come.

A friend of Kevin's saw them in Montreal, so they definetely tour North America. Maybe it's even worth dropping them an e-mail to enquire? They are seriously amazing.

Hot damn! Is this playing in the states ever? Sounds fucking fantastic!

You should be in sales, my friend!

I wouldn't be surprised if they played in the U.S.'s major cities. However, their show is very complicated, full of machinery and stuff, so I wonder if it would be time consuming for them to set up in so many different locations.

What does that stand for?

lol, it means "Best Friends Forever". whiney schoolgirls used to write BFF on their copybooks and pencilcases. given our near-telepathic, simultaneous friend requests of each other, BFF seemed appropriate.

I need to shake my telepathic abilities a little because I should obviously have understood what you meant by BFF.

Still, I think we have time to atune ourselves to each other. ;-)
