Cafe Madiera: The New Dev

I'm temping for the next two weeks near Waterloo. At lunch time, I steal a notepad and a pen from work and decide to find a cafe for some NaNoWriMo work. There's a Portuguese cafe near the station, Cafe Madiera, which has some decently-priced sandwiches. I order my lunch at the counter and ask if there are any free seats upstairs. The guy says there are so I climb the stairs, feeling like I'm going to bump into someone from work. I scan the tables and spot, instead, [livejournal.com profile] dj_alexander!

We have a quick chat because he's at the end of his lunch break. I'm sure we'll meet again at lunch time and have a proper bitch session chat. I bet he's got a lot to say about the Dev's "new direction". ;-)

Is that the one on Wootton St? Big glass front? If so, I totally know it

It's the one just by the bridge (not sure if that's Wootton St). Do you go there sometimes?

That's the one, corner of Wootton Street and Cornwall Road.

I vote we go to The Wellington (http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/21/213/Wellington/Waterloo) one afternoon and get shitfaced!

Maybe not shitfaced, but I think a couple of pints would be good. There's another pub that's also good, full of old alcoholics, just near Waterloo. We can go there too. :-)

Heya,

I'm unsure I'll be coming this Friday. My friends are either away or being lame and I think it might be awkward for me to come on my own without knowing anyone but you.

I'll let you know if things change.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's a shame! I hope your friends change their minds. If you still feel like dancing, you know where to find me. ;-)

[identity profile] amberholic.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
How many people are going? I'm seriously tempted. I want to go dancing and it'll be payday, which is always something worth celebrating, not to mention I spent last weekend pretty much barricaded in my studio and work is driving me nuts. I need to blow some steam and going clubbing is keeping me motivated in dieting and going to the gym.

I think I'll come. What time are you planning on getting there? I'm happy to print extra vouchers for free entry.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's going to be loads of people! In the 20s, by the looks of it. I'll probably just meet people at the club because I'm going with some brasilian friends (and, if you don't know this, brasilians are notoriously late). So... I guess expect to see me there at some regular attending-hour: say 10pm?

[identity profile] amberholic.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! That's a lot of people... now I'm feeling slightly reluctant again.

I'll probably see you in there and, who knows, maybe I'll be able to drag my friend after all.

[identity profile] amberholic.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid I won't be coming tomorrow after all. My friend keeps changing his mind back and forth but I think he's set on not coming now and I'm too shy to fit into such a large crowd.

Maybe some other time?

Hope you have fun anyway.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm sure there will be more times! I hope you have a good weekend anyway. :-)

:-o maybeee we can strategically plan accidentally bumping into each other when I'm in Londres

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
If you take the District Line from Mile End, around 9 a.m., I'll be sure to be on the platform. :-)

how very convenient as I'll be staying quite close to that station and I do very much enjoy a lovely stroll through the cemetary.
