Reasons to delete your Facebook account?

Not exactly the most unbiased article in the world, but it nevertheless has some interesting facts on the people who own Facebook.

Someone else pointed that article out -- and I agree with most of the people who commented. The guy who wrote it is a real technological ignoramus. Most of his list of facts about why facebook is evil at the end are either technological or legal requirements and will be true of nearly any company including livejournal.

I don't have a facebook myself and don't want one. It's a shame to see nonsense like this put about though. Maybe there is some truth in it but if there is it is impossible to see through the many distortions and misconceptions.

Yes, I don't have an account either. Just haven't felt like following the herd, so far.

Apart from the technological and legal angle, what do you think about the people who own it?

I really don't know I'm afraid. Sorry, I can't help with that.

Look Ollie, you can post as many antifacebook links as you like, but it doesn't alter the fact that you need to get a Facebook. So please stop procrastinating and set one up today.

Not after you had a go at me for wearing blue jeans!
canudiglett: (curls 2)

[personal profile] canudiglett 2008-01-22 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't YOUR blue jeans I was having a go at. You are one of these rare non goth types and therefore exempt from the fashion rules the rest of us have to follow.

If I had a "Blue Jeans" party, where the attire is obligatory, would you attend it?
canudiglett: (helmet)

[personal profile] canudiglett 2008-01-22 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd wear them on my head, as a hat! I do have a pair, actually, but not for going out in.

My 13th birthday party was a "No Jeans Party" because I was so sick of my schoolfriends refusing to wear anything else.

Amen to that!

Facebook is like MySpace. A place for the intellectually challenged to congregate and spread their stupid.

Facebook isn't inherently the devil. It's another way to waste time on the internet that, in the long run, probably won't destroy society in a real meaningful way. But it is pathetic when all people do is sit on it all day. There really isn't much to do on it, so I've never understood this. It's difficult to stalk people, all Facebook pictures (completely opposite to MySpace pictures) are completely inane and usually unattractive, and those application things are really annoying. I don't see what the big deal is, honestly.

Same here, and I haven't even joined it.

pff...Facebook is just like Orkut!
the same thing....but oooh, Facebook has games and Fluffy friends to pet and feed!

errrr........

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
I left Orkut... it was so boring and pointless!

If LJ had a few more features that FB has then I would quite happily delete it in favour of this :oD .

Buttt for the moment it's staying put ;o)

Come to the dark side ...
