A Couple of Days

[livejournal.com profile] amberholic met me for lunch yesterday, since he was temping in the same building as me, near Waterloo station. I took him to a nearby Portuguese cafe, where our one-hour-break quickly flew by. They sold Guarana Antartica (the best soft drink in the world), which made me happy. On my way home, I saw [livejournal.com profile] dj_alexander smoking a ciggie with his boss outside his office. He wore a light-blue jeans jacket and he didn't see me wave hello.

Today, [livejournal.com profile] blu_bear met me outside the Astoria on Tottenham Court Road. We found a table outside one of those coffee shops that line Old Compton Street and chatted about life, livejournal and literature. Rupert Everett cycled by. He wore a grey touque. He briefly scanned the many gay men sitting outside the cafes before moving on. My fame as a celebrity spotter was confirmed. When our lattes were finished, we wandered by Trash Palace and grabbed a few copies of F*@K! (which [livejournal.com profile] blu_bear writes for), then popped by The Photographer's Gallery (which was sadly closing.)

The trees that line my road seem to have suddenly bloomed. I swear to God they were just dull green things yesterday; today they carry the most beautiful, luxuriant purple blossoms. They are like those awkward teenagers that one day wake up beautiful. They make me forget my worries.

ollie, that last little paragraph is gorgeous.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm trying to hold on to anything beautiful in my life at the moment so I don't have to worry about work and lack of money.

That little paragraph isn't as gorgeous as you though. ;-)

oh! my! wink, wink. baby, you can hold on to me any day...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Can your boo join in too? Group hug!

[identity profile] rag-and-bone.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
my boo is all over it, son.

oh and i didn't even comment on the relevance of that first statement: s. and i are working very hard right now to do just the same. screw money! screw work! look at that cloud shaped like a bunny rabbit!

Lunch was great yesterday and thanks so much for giving me a little tour of the area. I'll be going back to that cafe for lunch tomorrow as that piri piri chicken with salad is perfect for my diet and very filling.

I'll definitely be sticking with this hairdresser from now on too.

As you know, it's a great area to work in. You'll find plenty of interesting places once you start exploring.

It was not a light-blue jeans jacket! It was a faded blue-black shirt!!!!

I'm a goth dammit!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Have fun in Whitby! Even though you are not a goth anymore...

[identity profile] meemeedarling.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You always spot such celebs!

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's the slebs who spot me! Rupert was avidly looking for me, but he wasn't wearing his glasses this time around so he didn't see me. :-)

[identity profile] blu-bear.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, he was profusely muttering to himself 'where is ollie, where is ollie?!'

;)

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe he was insanely jealous when he saw me with you that he decided to ignore me. :-p

[identity profile] the-spire.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my.. after having a quick glance at your entry I thought it was entitled "A Couple of Gays" :))

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Actually... that's a much better subject title! :-)

I used to go to the same gym as Rupert Everett. He once sat on my head…

Those trees have been trying to bloom for weeks! They almost came out in the last warm spell we had, but then the frosts came back and I thought all the buds would be ruined… I don’t think it’s going to be as good a display as last year though, when the pavements seemed covered in petals like inch-thick confetti….

I used to go to the same gym as Rupert Everett. He once sat on my head…

Please do tell more! I need to be cheered up today.

[identity profile] iejw.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
It’s one of my favourite lines! Always gets people’s attention…

Unfottunately the facts of the matter are a little more mundane. We had adjoining corner lockers, I dropped something and bent down to pick it up, he bent down to get in his locker and sat on my head. It was briefly awkward.

[identity profile] iejw.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
A very English mutual muttered apology I think…

oh god, I love Trash Palace.
I believe I was in London the year it was first open!
hope all is well in OLD LONDON!

XO -DAVID

Old London still ticking along. Have not tried Trash Palace yet at night; must rectify that soon.

The [few] trees round here have done that too, it's very good :)
