Help Me Watch a Good Film

I belong to Sofa Cinema, the British equivalent of Netflix.

My rental queue is running perilously low so I need suggestions for it. Seen any good horror films lately (or know of great classics?) Any films made you weep and fall in love with humanity again? Any action thrillers made you devour your nails? Would love to get some recommendations!

My current list of "TO SEE" films:

[identity profile] msanthropist.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*Atonement
*Private Fears in Public Places
*Into Great Silence
*No End in Sight
*The 11th Hour
*Letters from Iwo Jima
*Flags of Our Fathers
*Year of the Dog
*In the Valley of Elah
*Darjeeling Unlimited
*Kite Runner
*Golden Compass
*I Am Legend

If you've seen any of the above and wish to comment/review - please! Particularly if you're comment is "...don't waste your time..." Happy viewing Ollie!

Atonement was lovely and quite close to the novel (which is worth checking out if you wish to read something good). Golden Compass was a big disappointment; if you haven't read the books it is based on, you'll feel lost. I haven't seen the others though I've heard bad things about I Am Legend (it has apparently a really stupid ending.)
