Last Night I Dreamt

Good luck America!

Thank you!
I am hoping for a good day. On my way to vote now.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Let us know how it goes!

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I already voted with an absentee ballot, but it's going keep me jumpy all day...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
If the mummy is elected, you better get out there and throw a riot!

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's like this--

Will we celebrate? Or, will we storm the Capitol?

I don't think anyone in the office is getting any work done today...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's very exciting to be you today! :-)

It's nervewracking...like an unpleasant roller coaster ride between hope, depression, bitterness, anger and frustration, rage, and disgust. I told my family if Obama doesn't get elected I'm moving to Canada - with or without them. I'm tired of being so angry all the time and hating people more and more each day...for me it's a matter of whether hope dies once and for all and cynicism overtakes me so that I will finally embrace the bitterness that is me or if I find the reserves to raise the ranch one more time and believe that things actually can change and people aren't terminally small and stupid and driven by nothing more than the basest of survival instincts - every man for themselves - even at the expense of the species...

Whew...thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Keith and I also voted by absentee ballot and I'm taking the day off (it's his and [livejournal.com profile] aeonflux's birthday)...but it'll be brutal trying to avoid the blow-by-blow bullshit and resist getting drawn into being emotionally invested in the horserace/dogandponyshow...

I have faith that we can elect Obama just not that the system's not so rigged that it again won't matter what the majority wills...

Is that the excitement you were coveting?

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
If there is a chance of tampering with the polls, it would have been done if Obama and McCain were neck and neck. But, with such a huge turn out of supporters for Obama, and the polls clearly showing his lead, I don't think the Republicans have the GUTS to try anything dirty... unless they don't mind landing with a full riot on their hands. So, really, I think/hope that this will be a historic mark, a move forward, that will inspire everyone to dump the neo-con(artist)s in the ocean and strive for a better future. I'm all hopeful today, though I completely understand how this must be anxious for people who can't stand those fuckwit Republicans!

Just know that now you need a passport to get into Canada, AND if you're going for citizenship, you need to speak French, and be there for four years--

Oh yes, I've looked into this... ;)

[identity profile] msanthropist.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The passport shouldn't be a problem but the French...just might be a deal-breaker...have you researched any other viable alternatives, preferably with a thriving nudist community?

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I would LOVE to learn French...preferably in France...and also, because I want to--not because I have to.

Nudist colony, eh? *sigh*
They're never as exciting as we make them out to be...

Truly disappointed--truly, truly, truly, ohhhhhh...

[identity profile] msanthropist.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not excitement that drives my yearning to live free (metaphorically and literally)of the trappings of clothes. The nudist has nothing to hide, plus - it's so comfortable!

My husband and I have always been naturists and expressing our love for one another in the privacy of our monogamous relationship has nothing to do with it...here in San Diego we both spent many long summer days at Black's Beach while we were coming of age and the zeitgeist of the 60's and 70's combined with the freedom of sunbathing and body surfing among friends left an indelible impression on us both...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You guys are lucky. I think you belong to a generation that experienced those things with a lot of innocence. I think it exists quite comfortably in some sections of the gay community, but it also tends to be heavily linked with sex parties, etc. Taking it to the other side, where it's all about nature, sounds really intriguing (but a little daunting too!)

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a bit nerve-wracking, but yes--exciting as well, though we won't know anything for sure until late this evening. :P

But the prospect of going to Europe after this all goes down, good or bad, is more attractive than it ever was. I'm still waiting on my passport...

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you'd love it over here. :-)

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I have this small thought that perhaps the reason it's been so hard for me to get to Europe (money, etc.) is that once I get there...I don't think I'd come back to the States.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering your interests... probably not. But you'd miss it (the great weather over there, friends, the space, etc.)

[identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh sure, I'd miss family and the familiar, but there would be plenty to distract me--but that would also mean that my friends and family would have to hop across the pond to visit...:)

It'd be great to have dual citizenship.

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
yes good luck to them! :)

what an exciting night.

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to avoid it though because I can't think of anything more boring than political commentators!

[identity profile] suede.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
really? i will be awake watching it! :D

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Snooze Fest! :-)

[identity profile] rag-and-bone.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Fingers and toes crossed for all of you!

[identity profile] jeffster.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
i have to head over on my lunch hour...i can't wait. i'm petrified who may win this

[identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
We all know who will win. The question is whether the real results will be broadcast...

[identity profile] msanthropist.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)

I am glued to the television. I must leave to go to ballet. Then I will return to stare more at the television.
