Allen Ginsberg Exercise #5
A tiny creature lying in the sun, eyes closed, as shadows flicker around it and the sound of a song from the 80s reaches me. Cooler indoors than outdoors.
Sitting in the guesthouse’s reception, doing admin and looking at Marcelinho lie in the sun while my iTunes runs shuffle on Clan of Xymox. Nearly lunch time.
Must ask the Norwegian couple during lunch if they’d like to hang out with us in the living room at night.

It was an exercise my boyfriend learnt from a Ginsberg lecture (I think available for free at archive.org.)
It's an exercise to place yourself in the now. The first part is just you trying to attempt to describe everything around you sensorially - almost as if you were an alien who has just arrived on the planet. The second part is a straightforward description of your surroundings, what you're doing, etc. The third and final part is you catching a thought - anything that goes through your mind at that very moment.
