Day 74 - Pine

We have over 50 pine trees. Most of them line up the eastern edge of our property, starting from the guesthouse’s gate and moving halfway up the mountain.

The owner of the property next door approached us to ask if we wouldn’t mind bringing down the trees and selling them. He wants to sell his property but buyers will be wary of building a house near trees that could one day crash on them.

We have agreed and are researching buyers now. The money raised will be enough to fix up the guesthouse in time for reopening after the pandemic.

So you’re prepared to sacrifice Earth saving trees to line your own already filthy rich pockets? Kick the house buyers in the fanny and send them packin.

It's a shame to knock them down... but we plan on planting more trees!

The bad thing about pines is that they are not originally from here, so they are quite aggressive to local flora (nothing around them grows here). Once they are gone, hibiscus trees we have planted will grow taller, we'll be able to plant other native trees as well. Further up the mountain we have more pine trees which we don't need to knock down as no houses will be built there.
