We are on a Rock...
Jan. 21st, 2003 12:37 pmCity of God was excellent, mostly because of the camera work, direction and soundtrack. But the violence was a bit too much for me sometimes (though I know that was the whole point, to show how violence and death become nothing to the people who live in it.) Then people came out of the cinema, trying to laugh and forget about it. Some Brazilians were saying that the movie exaggerated violence in Brazil… BULLSHIT! It`s exactly like that, perhaps even worse. I know because I lived in Sao Paulo, and I have friends who live in Rio… they live in a state of Civil War, they have to buy cars that are protected against bullets, they can`t stop at traffic lights at night otherwise they might be robbed.
I hope Lula does something to stop this… it would be a good idea to bring in the army.

I`m bored off my skull at work. But there`s less than an hour and a half to go. Then I`ll get meself a £5 hair cut, buy the new Richard Ashcroft album (I gave my copy to Meire because I know she loves him more than anyone else!) and check out what else is new. Maybe a few new socks and undies. I left a lot back in Brazil (though I did look for them while I was packing - could RoboDon have stolen some of it??? He always struck me as an undie sniffer!)
