Aw... goddamn weekend already close to the end... momma arrived with tons of goodies - two roscas (an italian-style sugar bread), chocolate boxes, a bottle of sugar cane spirits (used for caipirinhas - sadly, it smashed in her suitcase), cds (one of Maria Rita, one of my brother and I as children singing!), magazines, newspapers, books, cheeese bread mix, a pressure cooker pan (so we can make Brazilian style beans), peanuts (sugary and salty), some biscuits my grandma made... sadly, no Guarana.
We just hung out yesterday. Today I took her downtown, to Oxford Street, Regent Street - we looked at books in Borders, some stuff in random stores. Then we had a huge lunch in a Chinese restaurant, in Chinatown, stumbled to Marks & Spencer where I exchanged some traveller cheques for her.
When we were waiting for our bus back home (the number 6) I gave her a pound coin and told her to pay for her fare with it. I went in before her, and climbed to the second floor to save seats for us. Seconds went by, then a minute. No momma, no bus moving. I thought I heard my mom's voice, so I went to check... she almost had to leave the bus! The guy's machine was broken and he wasn't accepting money, only passes and tickets. He told her to go across the street to buy her ticket and she told him she would only go if he waited for her.
HAHA! A Bus waiting for a passenger on Oxford street! Only my mom to think up something like that.
