In the 1930s, Winnipeg was considered the saddest city in the world. A woman with no legs, and owner of a beer factory, decided to hold a contest in the city for the saddest music in the world. People from all over the world flew to Winnipeg to play their songs - winners slid into a large pool of beer. Losers joined the American team.
I bought two used cds: Whammy! by the B52s and Don't Try This at Home by Billy Bragg.
Around 4 or 5 in the morning, I woke up. The sky was a dark blue, and it sounded like thousands of birds singing. For the birds, it's a perfectly normal hour to wake up and make a racket. And when the sun goes down, do they find their little nests and go to sleep? Do they purely live for the sun? I'd like to join the birds for a while, be awake when everyone is asleep... and go to bed when people get ready to hit the pubs and enjoy their lives. I'm sure I'm missing something in the world when it's 4 in the morning.
